Just returned from South America

i just came back from visiting family in south america (will keep the name of the country out for now) and i was shocked by the amount of jws i saw on the street.

keep in mind that most countries in sa have been under military rule until the early 80s, with the general fear and mindset sticking around until the late 90s, even when the military was gone and democracy re established.

jw were not around when i lived there.

No offense. I do agree do that some are third world countries. As much as media outlets would portrait them otherwise, the truth on the streets is different. It is my country of origin. Sorry I do not mention it by name, but it would be easy to pick me out of the crowd if I reveal it.

The main intention of my post was to put in perspective the localized growth in SA with their global trend, which points to a loss or a small gain at best.

Keep in mind that most countries in SA have been under military rule until the early 80s, with the general fear and mindset sticking around until the late 90s, even when the military was gone and democracy re established. JW were not around when I lived there. The last time I visited in 2011, there were few congregations and there was none but a single JW in my town. There seems to have been tremendous growth since then because now they seem to be everywhere. Like everything that is new, it has a lot of synergy. There was not one day we went downtown where we did not see a JW on the street, no matter what time of the day. No matter which part of the country we went to, the same happened.

There has to be a whole lot of people leaving the org in order for such growth to be diminished worldwide.

while there is plenty of pressure for young jws to refrain from every act of premarital sex, self pleasuring or by engaging with others, there isn't a whole lot of advice on the bible regarding this aspect.

i have just recently began to wonder about it so the only thing i can recall regarding this on the scriptures, is the famous words recorded in 1 cor 7:39 or any other paragraph that speaks against sexual immorality.

however, i came across deut 21:10. check it out.

there is ample evidence of the jw organizations being deceptive (for example, misusing quotes in publications such as the trinity brochure and the creation book), but a few years ago i noticed one glaring example of deception that is worth noting..

part #4 for the theocratic ministry school for the week of july 21, 2008 was how can false prophets be identified?

the material was the reasoning book beginning on page 132 (there was a similar service meeting part the week of 8-26-13)..

One paragraph that is worth mentioning and that I have not seen mentioned here (and much less at JW meetings) is that of Deut chapter 13, which basically says that even if the word of the prophet comes true, you still need to be careful on following such prophet. There is no better writing to make the case for using your reasoning that this paragraph, because they were instructed to watch out, even when the prophet seemed to come from Jehovah.

JW.org Embroidered Shirt

i was walking into a local food store at noon on saturday and i see someone wearing a tie coming into the store.

it was a brother who i have seen before (in a nearly congregation) wearing a very nice shirt and tie.

it had the jw.org logo embroidered on the pocket.

Have not seen one myself, but plenty of the other ways of pinning a symbol to a person or child. The biggest statement of blind obedience I've seen in my life.

I wish simple and powerful statements like these will make anyone review their beliefs. Worst things hit them and yet they shield themselves from looking outside the hole.

I remember some years ago, my brother-in-law, who still very much in, was in parking lot duty, during an assembly. Some higher up from bethel was going to give a talk that day. He drove in and parked on the handicap space but my brother in law clearly noticed he could not really park there. He followed the orgs advice on lovingly and respectuflly pointing out that this parking space was reserved for people with disabilities. Without any regards the man responded "You are not going to tell me what to do" and walked away to give his talk.

I asked him what he did. Did he report his behavior. HE said no, Jehovah will take care of it.

breaking in to kingdom halls and disturbing peaceful meetings is hardly the way to go when it comes to positive activism .nevertheless these incidents seem to become more frequent recently as the watchtower vehemently refuses to engage in a meaningful way with the problems of policy and doctrine that seem to trouble many jehovahs witnesses .that, coupled with the ever extending ex- jehovahs witnesses community and their harsh disfellowshiping practises is creating a new era where disturbances of that short will only become more frequent.

Defeinitely this does nothing to help the cause, however, I would point out to the brother (on that video) who wanted to come up and fight with this guy and then his wife tries to stop him and he very disrespectuflly pushes her away. If anything, that should be highlighted.
