They are callous and cruel because their Borg masters are that way too...(and here I was taught they were the most loving people in the whole world)...Well you hold your head up high because you've done nothing wrong and neither has your little girl...it's the Jehovah's biggots who should ask themselves what their precious organization has turned them into.

CRUEL toward children!!!!
by chuckyy inmy 6 year old daughter was best friends with another 6 year old witness girl and they go to the same school.. since our disassociation it has been difficult for them to see each other.to get around this, we have recently used my mother (who is not/never been a witness), to take the two girls out to play together.
however, two witness mothers at the school noticed that this was happening and proceeded to harrass and have a go at the other witness mother for letting her daughter associate with the 6 year old daughter of parents who have left jehovah.there has been no trips out together for the two girls since.. this to me is so cruel!
after all, there was never any contact with us.

An End To Shunning
by Sunspot inwell, in my case anyway.
for those of you that may recall my posts about my family and that after i left the wts, how i wrote long (and painful) letters to my nonjw children among others.
i had tried to explain why i had shunned them and how very sorry i was, and for all the mistakes i had made throughout their childhoods as a jw mother.

That was an awsome story...with a happy ending too! Wonderful and thanks for sharing it with us.
It's unbelievable to many on the outside just how devastating to families and relationships the WTS unjust policies really are, I'm glad things are going good for you now.

Another marriage bites the dust because of JW beliefs
by unbeliever ini know very few people who have been successfully married where 1 spouse is a witness and the other is not.
i know there are a few examples on this board.. a couple that i know irl have split after nearly 25 years of marriage because of the stupid shunning shit.
one of their 3 children got df'd 6 months ago and that is when everything fell apart apparently.

The WTS drives a wedge between believers and unbelievers. Knowing that your JW mate puts the org before you, and knowing that they believe god is going to kill people like you sure doesn't help. Sure some people stay together but do you think they are really happy? Sure the WT says stay together, but how about celebrating birthdays together or going to an R rated movie together or having worldly friends to spend time with together. NO the WTS teachings / Control ALWAYS comes first and it hurts

welcome celticboy, It can be tough leaving the org and as kls said many stay for family reasons also I think some stay "just in case" the org is right (no chance)kinda like an insurance policy. Too, some people have so many years in already they just can't throw it all away now (they should). Maybe they're old and their whole life has been given to the WTS, they have the mentality that says I'm too old to change.

I remember as a kid wondering what it would be like to stay home every Tuesday and Thursdat nights. I hated to have to get ready and go out to the meetings especially as all the best TV shows seemed to be on those nights...but like the obedient little dub I was, I never put up a fuss...I just went along.
