Why do you have to tell then anyhting? 2 elders coming...sounds like official business to me, watch what you tell them. I was in a similar situation one time, I called them up and told them that I had changed my mind and I didn't want them to come. They called me a couple of times after that and I told them firmly that I had nothing to discuss with them. You should be in control, you are allowed to say no,or "I've changed my mind"

But when you figure in all the preaching/recruiting work etc and the thousands of hours spent, it doesn't seem so good to me. Isn't it a bit like someone who trains for a race and only just beats some out of shape guy who smokes, drinks and watches 15 hours of TV each day. Not an impressive victory! Given all the time and effort witnesses put in , along with their regular (sales) meetings, you'd think they'd be miles ahead.

Notes from the Wallkill Printery Dedication - May 16, 2005
by acsot inyou will all no doubt want to upchuk your lunch be pleased to find out how jehovah has blessed the brothers and sisters at the expanded, updated printery at wallkill.
i have several pages of notes from that momentous occasion, but haven't a clue how to get them to post here.
one of the snippets that will make you want to vomit highlights mentioned how, in reference to one job out-sourced to a "worldly" company for the concrete floors, the foreman of said company told the dubs that "what he learned in his few months at watchtower was comparable to five years of college".

Come to Bethel and pour concrete...it's as good as a collage education. Yeah, well I went to bethel and ran a printing press...haven't noticed the big pay off yet. I can honestly say it was a waste of time and energy. If only they'd given me a trowel instead of an inky rag...what might have been.

food for thinking.
jehovah's witnesses.

See how the witnesses make up their own absurd rules and explanations...that way in their own minds at least, they are always right while everyone else is wrong.
When the catholics changed their teachings about eating meat on Fridays the witnesses ridiculed them, but when the JW's changed their own teachings on organ transplants it was hailed as "new light" Which caused the most harm?

by GetBusyLiving inan old witness friend of mine had a serious drinking problem and went to an elder in his hall for some help.
the elder tried to console him and told him that he could understand what he was going through.

**MUST READ** AlanF's email to Knocking.org
by sf inthis is a must-read that, hopefully, will stay an "active topic" for all seekers and lurkers, by bumping it to the top as often as possible.
alan wrote it in randys {dogpatch} thread regarding knocking.org documentary and in reply to the email mr. engardio sent to barbara anderson.
however, it is so vital a read that it indeed needs its own thread:.

Great stuff. I wonder if it will make any difference to the program. It should without a doubt. The last paragraph wraps things up so well.

I'd just let it go at least for now, there will always be something else he can bring up. I have a similar situation with my mother, right now I just change the subject or tell her right out that I don't want to discuss it with her. Understand that you will never "win" in their eyes. Good luck.

You must be firm, it's no use trying to reason with them about their beliefs right now...they'll tie you in knots..You could say that you've thought things through carefully and you're just not interested, period. Of course they'll ask you why...DO NOT get into a debate! You can be friendly and firm at the same time. Do not leave the door open for future discussion or they WILL be back.
Lot's of people on this board have been sucked in while they are feeling vulnerable but their pain was nothing compared to the trauma of families being split apart and the hard fight to break away. These witness people maybe very nice but remember the teachings they follow and uphold are not.
Come back here often we want to help you.
