Ah... memories, LOL.

Whats the weirdest case that was handled in your congro??
by karter inwe had one were a guy screwed his dog.. a guy got his step daughter pregnant and ran off with her, his wife committed sue-aside , in our country you can't marry your step children if you are the course of the brake up however apparently its not against scriptural law so the congregation gave them a marriage.. we had 4 sisters pregnant in the congro (all married) this bro of questionable mental health confessed to the elders to being father of them all.. .

MLM schemes @ the hall, i.e Amway, , etc...
by avishai inanyone get sucked in?
i always thought it was ironic how often they preached against this sort of thing from the platform, then were out in the parking lot trying to sell it to you.
tons of elders defrauding folks this way..

Robert7 and Junction has it right.
Even when I was a dub.. I would steer clear of this.
To me, it was being a Dub x2.
Everyone you met was a potential "target" for you.

JW.. a Broke A$$ Loving People.
by Confucious injust telling it like it is.... so you have the mormons.. like there are a lot of rich mormons.
mitt romney being one of them.. then there's the scientology people.
yes... also an alternative religion like jw and mormons.. like there are tons of rich scientologists in tom cruise world.. and i know that in jw there are some wealthy people.. but i tell you, in jw the overall feel is that being poor is glorified.. my experience is there is a ton of descrimination in the organization.

I remember long time ago, when I was at a Pioneers meeting.
I Pioneered for 10 years. So there was times I was very very poor.
But later on I started making some money
So I'm at a Pioneer Meeting - the one where everyone in the circuit was there.
I had just bought a new Lexus - which was nice since me and my wife were BOTH full time Pioneers.
And the as the skit was being done, where the Pioneers were in the car talking. The C.O. said, "And they are NOT in a Lexus."
To me, it don't make a difference.
I know how to eat "boiled rice and chicken" and I know how to eat lobster.
But to me, it was a no win situation.
But no matter what you do, someone has something to say about it.

he was made an elder a few years later.. started a new congregation with the help of another elder.. has been married for over 50 years.. only missed a meeting due to being in the hospital a few days.. attends all out of town conventions no matter where it's held.. reads only watchtower material.
doesn't watch any television other than the news.. pioneers all year long since retired.. only visits witness friends and congregation members.. still gives public talks,is watchtower conductor and book study conductor.. didn't attend his father's funeral because it was held in a catholic church..

Thanks Must,
And great posts. Great discussions.
I was also told to quit my profession.
And I do admire people who quit jobs to make things simpler.
But when I was Pioneering... if my parents got sick - I could not take care of them.
I have a sister who is a doctor and is not in the borg.
I would have to depend on my sister who is a doctor to take care of them.
And if I the responsibility fell upon me, I could not help.

Must Obey,
I just think the NT also talks about things like self-sufficiency.
Jesus talked about the Good Samaritan who took up the beaten Jew, bandaged him up, and even told the person too look after him and whatever other cost - he would pay back.
It takes money to do that.
I understand not to be anxious of these things (and sometimes I am).
But I also know that I a lot of the brothers I know dont even hit the self-sufficiency mark - let alone the point where they can use their wealth for good.

Just telling it like it is...
So you have the Mormons.
Like there are a lot of rich Mormons. Mitt Romney being one of them.
Then there's the Scientology people. Yes... also an alternative religion like JW and Mormons.
Like there are tons of rich Scientologists in Tom Cruise world.
And I know that in JW there are some wealthy people.
But I tell you, in JW the overall feel is that being poor is glorified.
My experience is there is a ton of descrimination in the organization. That if you have money your looked down upon.
My question of discussion is this:
What examples do you have of people having money or fame being looked down upon?
