I personally know Prince and his now ex wife.
They are both beautiful people.
Divorce is hard enough.
It would be nice not to say unkind words, as the Karmic Wheel will bowl you over.

ok.... just trying to find a better understanding here.... no stupid posts like, "...because it's the governing body.
" - please.. ok.... how do the witness justify the bible and at the same time condem catholicism et all.... i mean, the books in the bible were picked by the council of nicea - which according the the witnesses - were part of the great appostasy and sanctioned by the same group of religious leaders they condemn..
Ok...

i know many have quoted ridiculous statements from the assemblies etc., i just wonder what irked you most off of the platform in your own kh.. the one that sticks out in my mind was when we had a guest speaker on a sunday for the public talk.
i don't remember the theme but his main point was the starving people in africa did not need food.
he stated they needed spiritual food and would opt for that over a meal because they realize they could eat in the new order and there was no need to send any donations directly.
The Wednesday before the Sunday meeting - a 17 year old young man died in a freak accident that WAS NOT his fault.
In fact, it was the negigence of the business he was working for that caused it.
This was big news in our area.
And of course, the parents of the young boy was sueing the the business.
So during the meeting, the Watchtower was on Greed... A brother goes on about how the parents were greedy because they were sueing the company.
Damn.. to this DAY I wish I would have stood up out of my chair and said, "WTF? The mother just had a child who DIED and you're calling her GREEDY???"
DAMN!!!
But I was CHICKEN SHIT... !!!!!!
I was scared to say what was RIGHT because I wanted position in the congregation.
SHAME ON ME!!!
.
someone else wrote a good thread about the naughtiest thing you've ever done at a convention.. ok... what did you do to "legally" get out of your chair?.
for me, it was easy, because i got to volunteer at some desk so i had 'permission' to be walking around in the hallways.

just wanted to take a second to vent.... me and best friend got the same royal middle finger up the ass when it came to our marriages.. my friend's marriage was much like mine.
but i'll give you the nutshell of mine only.... was married 11 years.
pioneered full-time with my wife for 10 years.
TMS.
You are right, but in my cong - you were also looked upon as weak and unspiritual to go to a pyschological conselor or a certified marriage counselor or something like that.
((((sigh)))))

It's not the elder's job to get involved with personal relationships.
Just pisses me off.

Had marriage problems - and the elders basically gave us the middle finger.
If they had only spend 1/8th of the time they spent tracking us down to disfellowship us in REAL HELP.
In other words, in our deepest time of need - they did shit.
So the other day, I'm at this Presbyterian Church - and the church has these "summer camp programs" for people who are divorced.
Basically, they had classes like - "Getting over the Hurt," "Adjusting to your new life as a Single Person," and "Dealing with a Split Family."
They had all this support.
And I'm thinking like the Watchtower has CRAP for real life difficulties.
Damn it... this church had all these programs to help people with REAL LIFE problems and all the Watchtower could do is just spend their time on how to disfellowship your ass.
I mean, where was the Watchtower Corporation when I was going through my divorce. NOT ONE shepharding call for me or my friend to try to repair our marriages.
Where was Watchtower Incorporated when we got divorced to give us support.
Ok... I'm done. Just pisses me off and needed to get it off my chest.
in our congregation, we had a theocratic ministry school overseer make the sisters stand while giving their talks because he would counsel them on a point of counsel having to do with speaking to the "householder".
(i forget that exact point of counsel) so the sisters knew they had to follow this imbecile's quirks or get a "w".
another rule that was eventually abandoned too, was that only elders and ministerial servants could offer prayer at the kingdom hall......any rules that you had to deal with??
Ariel.
I agree with you about that thing about the "trolling..."
I mean, where else are you going to meet the opposite sex at?
Speaking of dating - that chaperone rule.
It was kind of cool maybe if you were in high school or something - but it was always like - wtf? when you would see two divorcee's in their 40's going out together and needing a chaperone.
can anyone give me a lay man's version of what this is all about??
?
Cool... Thanks.
I was in the grocery store of all things and saw a book about it.
