  if you were a young brother in the late 60's you then remember the burden of the draft and the prospect of going to jail for refusing on religious grounds to be called up.

  in those days we were taught that to do community service was conscientiously the same as joining the military and so we were told to refuse such exemptions.

  It ended a year before, I came of age! But I had been auxiliary pioneering almost nonstop for two years, and quit school, and started regular pioneering a couple of months before it ended! I believed all of it, hook line & sinker!

  I had 2 big brothers that came of age in the heat of the war, one if them was drafted, but flunked the eye tests, and all was well! The older one started pioneering a few months before the draft age, and worried nonstop all the time! He would not take time just to have fun, studied all the time, wanting to be sure and have everything just right if he got called! He never did!

  I so remember how worried they were, and how it effected me as my time got ever closer!

  I remember the change when it came about in the 90's, thinking about how many friends I knew that had a black mark on their records, that had caused them problems for years, and unless they had money to burn, would always have that mark!

  Looking back, it blows my mind, that it took so long, and so much to wake me up!

  Dwindling Attendance? Here's a quick fix!....

  so here's a real life experience you will get a kick out of.. our kh has about 90 publishers.

  typical meeting attendance during a co visit is right at 100 or so.

  the rest of the time, attendance is a dismal 50-60, sometimes 70 on a good week!.

  The hall I am stuck in, has aroung 90+ publisher, and most meeting are around 85% often less! Two yesrs ago, the extra chair 's from the back were always brought out on Sunday. Now it's rare that any are needed. And there are pleanty of empty seat already!

  guy says he's not guilty of murder because victim refused blood transfusion that could've saved him

  I knew a brother years ago, who's wife was in a bad wreck with him. They wanted to give her blood, but he said NO! The police kept him cuffed to the bed. When she died, he was charged with manslaughter! It took two years, but the charges were dropped!

  Book Burning and other burning of materials done by JW. Any experiences Please post

  as a very young child i have memories of several book burnings done by jw families.

  it wasn't something arranged by the congregation, but elders did participate in it.

  it was actually scary for me as a child of only about 8 years old.

  My first girlfriend's family, found s strange book under a couch cucusion after a relative visited. It was in another language, and had a funny diagram on the front, and many more inside! Well the family had, a few set backs after the relative left, and before they found the book! Well it had to be demonic with all those strange symbols all though it! They burned it and everything she had used, sheets, towels, a barrel full of stuff. Everything burned, except the book! More prof it was demonic! They soaked it in kerosene overnight, piled a bunch of wood on it, and lit it up! Burned for 2 hours, still some of it remained! They took it somewhere and buried it!

  Some years later, a German chemistry teacher had a copy, it was all about chemistry! And very old, and worth a good sum of money!

  The relative was a chemical major in college!

  New Music! Again!

  remember when we went to just piano music for the song's at the hall!

  it was supposed to be better etc etc!i remember many quietly complaining about the borning piano music, as compared to the orchestra music, and how much more lively and enjoyable it was!

  so for 30+ years, the sad borning piano noise was so great!now years later, all of a sudden, orchestra music is coming back, because it is so much more lively, and will make everyone really get into and enjoy it more!flip flops are in season, once again!

  They could be so distracting!

  Oh an the ones that show they, "think" they are such wonderful Opera singers! They instead disrupt, and show out, causing many nearby to quite evening trying!
