one rule that i never could understand is that if you were studying with an unbelieving husband, you could associate with him, even as couples, but if a person was considered a "weak" witness, it was best to avoid any association until that person changed......what dumb rule or belief comes to your mind??

All that women are the weaker vessel mumbo jumbo. I agree with Wick that headcoverings, particularly the fast food napkin kind, are not where it's at.
We had the skirt length battles all the time just like Sassy talks about. One elder in particular used to make us kneel to check our skirt lengths.
Not being able to watch or own products relating to the Smurfs, ET, Care Bears, etc.... due to their demonic influence was the most bizarre rule to me.

1oz. Kahlua
1/2 oz. Dark Cream de Cacao (optional but I think it smooths out the rough spots)
Dash of Cream and fill with Pepsi, on the rocks. Hazelnuts on top optional, but really yummy.
i only know a handful of witnesses, but i do know several ex-witnesses.
all of them left in their late teens, which (as i've read here) is pretty common.
i know there are a lot of people here who left later in life.

As far as me just "throwing crap out there", I did list my source, for the quote. Maybe the book I got it from didn't check the validity of the quote. That I don't know. Also I never implied George W. was a racist and I don't think the quote does either. What it does show is Bush's lack of knowledge regarding other cultures. This was just one example of many. I guess, I can concede if he was trying to speak a foreign language at the time this statement occurred that the language barrier would have been quite an obstacle for Mr. Bush to overcome.
His lack of the ability to speak the English good is what most of these quotes are about and there is ample proof of his lack of ability in this arena. I find it very entertaining that the "Leader of the Free World" has such diffuculty expressing his ideas and thoughts.
By the way, I'm not a Clinton fan either.

My brother and I were of the hauled to the basement of the hall and beaten with a wooden spoon class. My brother was constantly being grabbed by various Elders who felt my mom's beatings weren't forceful enough to get through to him. Probably because at a really young age, about 4 or 5, he started taunting her every time she'd spank him. "Is that all you've got?" "You can't hurt me!" and he had a horrible maniacal laugh to go with the taunting. He used to fight back with all he had every time too. You'd think that would have sent the message that maybe beating him wasn't the answer. One elder in particular wouldn't just spank him, but would all out beat him.
i thought perhaps the next time you go to a assembly or convention you might want to have something for the kiddies to do...a theocratic distraction perhaps.... .

we escaped jw'dom a few years ago and have recently bought a home about 250km from where we lived about 10 years ago.. near encounters of the third kind.
imagine my fright in the local hardware mega-store when i just managed to dodge a sister from our old congo in the poaint section!!!!
that night, i put on the tv and the commercial for a firm of builders i'd thought of using came on - the local contact was the sister's husband!!!
Sorry Max but you're just going to have to face the facts - They're EVERYWHERE! Unless you're planning on moving to a remote island you're going to have to get used to them being around.
You can try to co-exist with them peacfully, although I'd be very tempted to host an Apostofest if I were in your situation.
