i see my wife being pulled into the org a little again, by some good people and kindness.
she grew up a very happy jw, and to leave is very hard for her.
but she has opened the pandoras box of her brain and can't shut it.. we were discussing blood a couple days ago.

wifey says she wants to go to see the special effects.
i suspect she wants to go to see russell crowe.
if you want to see special effects watch gravity.
Ha ha, well I did it and it only cost $11.
The only resemblance it had to the bible version was that a bloke called noah with a wife and three sons was in it,
an ark was in it and there was a fair bit of water in it. Honestly, putting aside any pre-concieved notions
of what it should or could have been, it was a disappointment. Crowe performs well below his best.
I love science fiction and special effects, the movie lacked any excitement in the effects dept.
In my view, the movie might be a good tele-movie for the bored. Tell you what, the old Ten Commandments
with Chucky Heston runs rings around this movie with it's old time corny effects and all. In fact if I may suggest,
get a copy of it and watch it instead.
I wasn't robbed, I wasn't cheated. I did what I wanted to do and I enjoyed doing it. You don't have to enjoy the
movie to experience the joy of freedom............ Does that make sense?

I got this mental picture of jw's sneaking in wearing overcoats and dark sunnies,,, then thinking they should be leaving,,,
Yes it might well be confronting for the die hard jw, confronting concepts of a murderous creator.
Ha ha my twenty cents worth.
i thought this was worth sharing.. .
where did the interpretation of gen 49:27 come from ?.
tms review question 4. .
Thanks for your thoughts folks.
Cult and Splash, you have described succinctly the thoughts I have, especially when an elder
asks if you believe the fds is the only channel of communication (with that challenging look!)
I was asked this over the generation thing and I replied "ok what about this in our bible highlights for tomorrow?"
He suggested immediately that I'm reading apostate material, my reply " nope I'm quoting from the books in the
fds library, ring em and check!!" He then suggested we would talk about this again later. I would think that we should be honest and
admit our roots,,,,. I love engines,,, and I can build a good strong engine based on my years of knowledge and experience.
If however I was using someone else's expertise, ie a build manual by another engine builder and not tell my clients but continue to
claim I was the best engine builder, would I not in fact be a charlatan?? especially if I didn't acknowledge the other persons expertise?
jtg,,,,,,,,, the light does get brighter.
"-- this generation will not pass away until all these things occur--" jesus in math.
24. what are these things?
disasters bigger than the flood?
The wbts have erroneously attempted to put a date into this passage for the followers for some years.
There appears no way logically that they can claw back the errors that have been made without
coming clean and stop fabricating a philosophy to enhance a failed prediction.
The only way to fix a blown piston in an internal combustion engine is to replace it with a new one.
As any engine builder knows, the new piston has to be balanced to match the existing ones. For a high
performance engine this is critical, if not done properly it can destroy the complete engine due to imbalance.
At the moment we are looking at a seriously unbalanced engine due to the continual incorrect and unbalanced
piston replacements by incompetent mechanics. Nothing matches up !

That's a good question and I am aware of that being queried after a
recent wt, it immediately jarred. I think it was the one you referenced.
I'm just an average joe trying to understand this stuff, and researching references, so,
as you know, before any apologists have a shot at this, it's inexplicable. And I
am blowed if I know. The only explanation that I could construe is in the fashion of
The Goon show "maybe they're not really deaded Neddy, you are only seeing this from a
human stand point Neddy" he heeeee.
It's a bit like trying to prove the overlapping generation scripturally. No can do.
So the position is, we gotta believe what the gb says no questions asked.

TMS review question 4
How did the tribe of Benjamin eventual- ly fulfill the prophecy at Genesis 49:27? [Mar. 24, w12 1/1 p. 29, box] In the “morning” of Israel’s kingly history, Ben- jamin’s descendants included a mighty warrior, King Saul. In the “evening” of that royal history, after the sun had set on Israel’s kingly line, Esther and Morde- cai, both of the tribe of Benjamin, fought effectively against Jehovah’s enemies. In a sense, they also divided spoil, in that Haman’s vast estate went to one of them.
An exerpt from John Gill’s Exposition on Gen 49:27,,,, ( 1697-1771)
Some apply this to particular persons of this tribe, as to Saul the first king of Israel, who was of Benjamin; and who as soon as he took the kingdom of Israel, in the morning, in the beginning of that state, fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, Ammon, Edom, the kings of Zobah, and the Philistines, and the Amalekites, 1 Samuel 14:47 and to Mordecai and Esther, who were of the same tribe, who after the captivity, and in the evening of that state, divided the spoil of Haman, Esther 8:1 this is observed by Jarchi, Aben Ezra, and Ben Gersom.

hey everyone!
i haven't posted here in a while, over a year i think.
just goes to show where i'm at in the recovery stage.
I'm finding this thread very interesting.
It's got me thinking about how this would apply if a congregation had a "constitution"?
For example, in Australia the individual congregations had to unanimously accept a
congregation specific constitution in order to continue recieving the
Charitable Institution Tax concession.
I noticed therein that members were described as 'active publishers' of the so and so congregation.
So, does the congregation's constitutional description have any bearing on this threads direction?
I'm thinking,,, ok if I am not an active publisher then I have no rights that a member would have, or be
subject to any "treatment" that a member would. If I write a letter stating my resignation from the
membership that should be the end of it, shouldn't it?
LIke as a financial or non financial member of an organisation that describes membership criteria.
Just wondering.
