i've been a lurker for quite some time and enjoy the forum.
i've reached a point in life where i don't argue ideologies anymore so i don't have much to say.
i've been out for decades and believe i've been mostly de-cultabilized (if that's even a word).. my family is still in and i haven't had contact with them in years.
lol, you should quote 22 Minutes..........

just a message to say that i have not been able to access my proper account for a long time now.
the account is under timothyt.
i go to log in and it just wont let me.
My friend, Rabbit, can't get into his account either.
I think the only solution is to create a new one. It's happened to a few folk. Glitches will happen.

ott wedding anniversary celebrations, what's that all about?.
i don't know about you, but the various congs i have been in there have.
been some seriously over the top wedding anniversaries that border on the obscene.
The skating parties were on a lake, at the 'cottage'/home of a wealthier JW. Every winter, the big blowout, and you'd get to see friends you only normally saw at conventions! We used to rent rinks for hockey as well (they had a JW hockey pickup game every Sunday nite). It was considered good to keep the young people happy with *some* socialization.
Wow, how sad the kids' lives must be now, with even less fun. I can see "youth groups" and "camps" in the future - how else to keep the teens?

why is it that people who display self-righteous hypocritical behaviour are so blind as not to see what kind of people they really are?.
Self-righteousness and piety are qualites that exclude humility. It's impossible to be both. The very fact that they only see themselves as 'good' and 'righteous' blurs their concept of reality. Honest self-examination, for them, is an oxymoron.

it is a beautifully simple machine that produces electricity from moving water.. we live on the columbia river 3 miles above the huge bonneville dam hydro-electric installation.. we have an abandoned lock that was built about one hundred years ago to lift river traffic around the rapids formed thousands of years ago when the naturally formed bridge of the gods collapsed.
the river now flows through it next to thunder island.. recently, an experimental device called the "eco-auger" was lowered into the locks current to begin tests of the beta model.
it is about the size of a small school bus.
OrphanCrow, yes, that would be the place for wind and red mud! My favorite thing about that part of the province is the Canada Geese on the Tantramar Marshes. :)) I'm on the Coast, so it's all pine trees and beach rock, with some nice sand (white) beaches as well.
Okay, so say 'aunt' ... I gotta hear it! :D

I guess the graduation parties are like having their own prom. Only, not really.
Oh, I remember missing the graduation dances, which I got asked to. lol, one guy who was of a different race, and was a big wheel on the hockey team, asked me to the dance, and I explained why I couldn't go. He told everyone at school I was a racist. :( Jerk.
Long after I left high school, I was oh, 18, I attended my JW best friend's prom as his date. LOL, he was 15 and what a fun night. He was the geeky JW kid who scored an older (18!) hot woman for prom, and yeah, I enjoyed giving the kids at school something to talk about. :P

Less consumption of goods, banning of 'planned obsolescence' by manufacturers, and other methods of curbing manufacturing and other industries would make the largest 'dent' in any future world power crisis.
When I see how much land we have in Canada, and think about it. How many factory workers (who are now unemployed) could own and operate community farms? That takes care of the 'factory farms' and great waste of grains, not to mention the gross treatement of the 'livestock' (oh how I hate that term). The flesh/eggs/dairy/produce would not contain the pesticides and hormones, oh, and antibiotics it now does.
Technology that is already proven and developed, could be used to generate power from wind in big cities via small specialized systems that have been created for tall buildings.
Single-family dwellings could utilize a few solar panels to heat water, and cut down personal grid use (yes, I have a friend who bought and installed his panels over 15 years ago, and you should see how the figures add up over the time).
I like this generating system. It would be ideal for small farms, or communities / groups who wish to share land. The Tidal Project here was a great dream that somehow got lost, Caedes, it's too bad. From what I've been able to read about it as a lay person, it's just not that good. :( I live a short drive from the Bay of Fundy, so it was a big deal when I was a kid.
Some may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. JL 1940-80
