I'll go out on a limb and risk hyperbole: JWD ranks up there with the classic recovery programs, like AA. It's a healing place, as someone already wrote. It's a steady reminder that we are unique in our history, we are not alone, and we are not crazy or wicked, and that there is life after the WT -- good, fulfilling, satisfying life. This site is a living thing, constantly growing and changing, evolving. No one can possibly thank Simon enough for what he started here.

In The End----What Will JWD Be Known For?
by minimus inwhen h2o and a few other boards were around, a few years back, they all became known for something unique.
h2o was where you went to see some great debates and really learn how to disprove the "truth".
randy's site was one of the first places that gave snippets of all the local ex and jw gossip, for the week.

A question for former pioneers.
by JV ineverytime you go to an assembly or to a convention or the co pays a visit, there's always a call for people to pioneer.
they always drag out a couple of pioneers on to the stage and "interview" them.
the one question they always ask is if the pioneers have any regrets over pioneering.

My spouse pioneered and raised childen who all pio'd when they graduated high school. Not one of them speaks well of the experience. It think this comment about sums it up:
I pioneered for 2 years. We lived a fantastically slacker lifestyle drinking endless amounts of coffee, going to the cinema, art galleries and just hanging' out. And I met a great range of people from heroin addicts to lord advocates. My report was always just over or under 90 hrs and bore no corelation to what I had actually done which was probably about 25 hrs. Thankfully, I was responsible for no one's assimilation.
In addition, Mulan's experience (above) sounds like my own wife could have written it. It was a complete waste of time and induced even more of the guilt it was designed to assuage.

If your thinking about buying a Dell computer....
by RubyTuesday inmy company recently(less than a year ago) replaced all our computers with dell and it has been nothing but a nightmare!.
within 3 months 2 of them had to have their motherboards replaced.thats just the tip of the iceberg.i can't even begin to tell you the numerous "little" problems we have had.you will spend hours on the phone with snotty sarcastic tech support agents ...if you can first figure out how to get to them.. check out this link if you don't believe me.. http://www.smorgasbord.net/blog/archive/000002.shtml.
rumor has it that they are going bankrupt..

Rumor has it that they are going bankrupt.
Not likely. In the news today: Dell posts record 4th Quarter; sales up 26%.
Why don't you call customer service and ask to speak to a supervisor and outline your problems to them? They may surprise you. Despite what we all learned in the borg, PEOPLE ARE USUALLY NICE.

WT writing department, please copy. This just in from MSNBC:
WASHINGTON - South Korean and U.S. researchers said Wednesday they had cloned a human embryo and extracted from it sought-after cells called embryonic stem cells. The cloning was not intended to make human babies, but the first step toward developing cures for diabetes, Parkinson's and other diseases, the researchers said. The experiment, the first published report of cloned human stem cells, means so-called therapeutic cloning is no longer a theory but a reality. Supporters of medical cloning say it can transform medicine, offering tailored and highly effective treatments for diseases. They say it could eventually lead to grow-your-own organ transplants.

Study gone bad
by galaxy7 ini had my bible study today, it was about demons, anyway the sister said that those shows on tv.
against jws are instigated by demons.. i told her about silent lambs and that it was true and had nothing to do with demons.
unless it was the molesting demon elders she was refering to.

When my JW family members start saying things like that, I always challenge them: If it is "all lies", why isn't the WTS taking on the media organizations and suing them for libel? Surely, if the reports are false the WTS stands to win a huge monetary settlement - and wouldn't Jehovah Give Them the Victory Against His Enemies??? Are they afraid that if they do, it will be determined that the accounts are true? Are they afraid of more negative publicity? If it is The Truth?, why are they so afraid of totally open and public scrutiny?
We should all memorize this. Someone should save these these gems from the forum and publish the Official JWD Reasoning Book.

JW literature table on campus
by asleif_dufansdottir inas i've mentioned before - most weekday mornings the jws have a table set up by the fountain on campus at asu.
i never see anybody talking to them.
mostly they have just been sitting there with all the literature on display, talking to each other.. however, the last few days i've noticed something strange.

On a campus near here, the dubs set up a table about once a month. It's always staffed by people in their 60's or 70's, retirees who have nothing in common with the average student. As a result, they don't get much "action" at their table. Another time, I saw a local church set up a table and pass out bible literature (all of which was just as colorful, well produced, and much more interesting than WTS stuff), and they staffed it with church members who were young, college-aged, attractive kids. One young woman was actually a student at that college.
I thought: I wonder why they can't get younger JWs to work the table at the local college? Then I realized, young witnesses would rather be caught dead than have to witness to people their own age, particularly if there's a risk they'll see someone they know!
Just think about that for a minute.

Being a Jehovah's Witness isn't easy. Explaining our beliefs can be long and tedious. There is one question you will inevitably face. "If we take Birthdays and Christmas away from our kids, won't they kill us in our sleep?"
Check out the site; funny stuff.
