Now that the situation has been fully illustrated, I trust some of you will be self-sacrificing and move where the need is great(er).
Seriously, put me down for California.
well i have redone the maps.
it was helpful to have them separated before while i was trying to make them all.
but now i think it is easier to have them separated.. ballistic has done an amazing job with the map of the uk you can find it at.

my mother told me that her bookstudy overseer asked his group this question---"why do you think a mature brother in the truth would just suddenly leave and stop coming to meetings?
any ideas?
" the group gave different opinions and finally he gave what he thought could be the reasons.
FADE GRACIOUSLY and do not grant any interviews.
Thanks, Frank, for that. I've used this phrase several times lately. A classic, and good advice, too.
a few days ago, mom tells me she's visiting a new kh.
according to her account, all the pioneer sisters are asking about "me" (we don't remember the name, but your daughter that used to come to meetings.
) ps #1 says "we're missing you, tell her we say hi.
Until I read your post, I thought maybe they were asking about you because they were wondering how your romance novel was coming and wanted to know how it all ended...

to: all congregations and traveling overseers
dear brothers,
Am always amazed at how many people don't "get" satire. This was brilliant, dannyboy.
i recieved a pm from a born again christian asking how i might aid him in helping a relative excape the wt.
while i am not a born again christian, the teaching of jesus that we can remove guilt and be right with god just by believing it is done helped me out.
gal 3:11-13: consequently, it is clear that no one can ever win god's favor by trying to keep the jewish laws, because god has said that the only way we can be right in his sight is by faith.
Steve:
You nailed it. I can't wait to read your NT "translation" if these few verses are a sample!
The WTS is clearly the intended target when Jesus quoted Isaiah: "[Jehovah's Witnesses] honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me."
It's this realization that has set me free.
.
up until a few years ago......every dec. km had a part encouraging everyone to go in the ministry on the holidays.......christmas day, etc.. no one ever got too excited about it in our cong.
.........it was pretty much a joke to everyone even when commenting on it during the meeting part.. that no longer seems to be the case..........haven't seen any parts like this for a few years now......i guess they've given up completely.. the meeting part usually included some "fine experiences"......but i have heard exactly the opposite from some who actually tried it one time.. have any of you ever went in service on christmas day?
Simon -
Is there a "best line in a post" contest under way?
If so, I nominate Czar, for this:
If my religion had really trained us to be ministers, like they claimed we were, we would have been running a soup kitchen or something, not berating people for not feeling guilty enough.
are elders instructed to contact a jw who has written a letter of da before they make the announcement to the congregation?
i mean, even a phone call to persuade them not to take that course of action?
the reason i ask is my father told me that no one contacted him in any way when he mailed his da letter to the elders.
Dear sweet Loris:
You expect rules to be followed? You expect justice and compassion? Hello?
my mother told me that her bookstudy overseer asked his group this question---"why do you think a mature brother in the truth would just suddenly leave and stop coming to meetings?

At our last CO visit, he made a comment during the elders meeting that we should never destroy the Record Cards of inactive publishrs
...But the good news is, if he had to admonish them not to destroy these records, it's because these cards ARE being destroyed, or discarded, by a lot of secretaries. In my experience, you can almost COUNT on these cards disappearing over time, especially if the people whose names are on them don't call any attention to themselves. Most elders are overwhelmed with the demands made on them already, and the best way to shave some work is to "lose" things. Think back to all those quarterly elder's meetings when you reviewed your old notes and realized half the "decisions" that got made at the previous meeting never got acted on. Out of sight, out of mind is the operative principal in most cases.

So, Marilyn, what legal action did your niece take as a result of their reading the announcement?

But, as long as you're not dead and you're not DA'd or DF'd, you're still a Witness in their eyes.
This is the issue, in a nutshell. It's like the Mafia: they won't let you just leave! Especially if you've occupied some "prominent" position in the "family." As one poster said, Those in the congo who are having their own doubts are going to wonder why somebody who seemed so immersed in the whole thing just disappeared. As for the poster who said, There are two reasons why people just disappear -- they did something wrong, or someone hurt them in some way... Well, it's to the elders' advantage for the others to think that way. Otherwise, the fault would have to lie with the congregation, or the organization, or, (gasp!) the "Truth" itself. Minimus is now feeling the brunt of a carefully orchestrated "blame game" because he is committing the unforgiveable sin: He dares to view this house of cards as totally irrelevant. They just HATE that.
