by under_believer inokay, so i want to talk this one over with my wife, but i need to kick the idea around here a little bit first.
i apologize if this has already been covered.
at the district convention this year, they did a bit about how jeroboam didn't want the 10-tribe kingdom going down to jerusalem, so he tried to set up calf worship and his own set of festivals, etc.

How Many 1st Century Christians?
by 24k injust wondering if anyone has done any research regarding the estimated number of christians around during the 1st and 2nd centuries.
it seems that there would have been well over 144,000. if so, there certainly would not have been any remaining spots to fill during the 20th century.
of course, the bible doesn't seem to set a number limit on those going to heaven.

144,000 ?
by 24k inwhile in the midst of a discussion with my wife, who is a devout witness, regarding who go to heaven, it dawned on me that the wbts teaching that only 144,000 go to heaven seems to have a fatal flaw in the math.
according to acts 2:41 "... about three thousand souls were added to their number that day.
" speaking of christians.

How do you deal with the constant strain?
by 24k injust last night, i had a jw relative visit from out of town.
while dropping him off at his nightly accomadations, a drive of only about five minutes, he, of course, took the time to inquire about my lack of meeting attendance, my use of the niv bible, and my recent trip to a promise keepers convention.
with such a short drive ahead, i didn't really want to get into a long discussion, so i tried to keep it brief and non-confrontational.

WTBTS=relationship thief
by stopthepain in.
how many of you out there have ever wondered "how many people did i never get to meet because of being a witness".. i for one,being raised ina ultra conservative jw family ask myself that.. everytime you missed out on various activities{outside the org},you miss out the chance of meeting great, interesting people.i for one don't have 1 friend left from the religion.so even if i met just 1 person that made a difference in my life,it would have been worth more than all that wasted time.. the wtbts knows what strings to pull to keep you from thinking outside the jw box.they destroy relationships before you could ever imagine begginning one..
