Thanks Blondie. I missed that "reasoning." Maybe the will eventually paint themselves into a corner.

I seem to remember hearing that "they" taught some of the "anointed" would survive the big "A" to help get things orgainzed in the "new system." Is that true or not? If so, that might get used to explain the lack of a decrease in numbers.
(Sorry, I don't know how to do the TM stuff.)

The Society's Effective Strategy to Smother the Truth...
by Confession inwhen, as one of jehovahs witnesses, we found householders unwilling to listen to us, we were at times frustrated.
the comparison often made was to a burning house with people inside.
we were trying our best to warn them of danger, but usually they would not listen, often scoffing at us.

Last straw?
by happyout inso, my marriage has been in trouble for some time.
my husband and i have totally different goals, and ideas of "partnership".
the last few months have been even more difficult than usual, he has been out of work, and not picking up any extra load around the house.

I'm so sorry; I've been there and don't wish it on anyone. Sounds like me, from his being out of work and unwillingness to help, to his free spending.
Our finances were completely ruined. I've finally mostly recovered from the bankruptcy.
The kids are doing great. Yes, there is some resentment on their part, or at lease "wishes" that their life could have been different for them.
You sound smart and strong; you can get through this.

Is this Dennis and Vanita? They were my co and wife when I was young and pioneering and we all really liked them. Maybe it's not the same pair. He was British or Scottish or something, still had a slight accent. Vanita was younger than him and liked to work with the younger people. They left the traveling work for a while to care for his elderly father and I always wondered what happened to them. Vanita wasn't quiet or mousy, didn't seem subdued by him. I wonder if it's the same couple and what happened to change things if so.

Best, worst and weirdest assembly halls...
by Jamelle ina recent thread about the experience of attending the 1969 convention as a young child really started me thinking.
i have several fuzzy memories of assemblies i attended as very young child.
this got me onto the track of the rather odd, uncomfortable or even really cool buildings i have visited over the years as a result of those conventions.. so my questions to everyone are:.

We had a District assembly at the Olympia (can't remember it's proper name, the Red Wings played there) and they couldn't get the boiler turned off. It was a sweltering summer and yet the radiators were blasting!

Nos, you don't need them.
I've done so well on my own, but they never see it that way.
You have done well. You see that and don't need any further validation from them. It sure hurts, though, doesn't it?
Make friends with folks of all ages; you'll have chosen family for your kids. I'm a surogate grandma to a newborn baby girl. Her paternal grandparents are nuts and her maternal grandparents live in Europe. I have no grandchildren of my own, but will be the absolute best one I can be to this little girl.
Congratulations to you and your wife!

My eighteen yr. old son wants to get his lip pierced !!!!
by troubled mind inaghhhhhhhhhh, he thinks it's cool i think it's grosss!
any suggestions that you think may help to persuade him from going through with it ?

Ask him to talk to a dentist first. That dissuaded my daughter from getting a lip piercing.

Can you say, "I'm so sorry; I'm on deadline and can't talk! May I come by your desk later?"
We're allowed to put up a little sign that we don't want to be disturbed.
