Faced with the reality of mortality
by stuckinarut2 inhow have you all coped with facing the reality of our mortality?.
most of us were raised to firmly believe we would never get old or die... so here we are now having to face the reality that are getting older... we are going to die.. sometimes it really pisses me off that we were never helped to comprehend this most basic of facts.
we were given a utopian dream as a "fact", and hence never taught how to face our inevitable futures.... thoughts?.

Once when I got to have doubts about the "Truth" , I started to investigate the reality.
Everything in this universe has an end. Even our sun, earth, stars, galaxy as we know of, has an end.
Our atoms may be recycled and probably end up as another living thing in a million years. But wont have any consciousness as what our atoms were before.
Death = End of everything for that particular thing.
Quite depressing but that's the truth. We can console ourselves that we cannot do anything about it.

Outside JW World They Barely Exist
by Farmer Jim1 inis anyone else staggered by the fact that outside of the organization most of the general public seem to know very little or nothing about jw’s?
when i was in i was led to believe that 99% of the worlds population had been giving sufficient warning, knew what it was all about and were stubbornly sticking to their immoral ways.
the reality seems to be that the entire jw universe is barely noticeable to the masses.

Very correct steve2
In India, hardly anyone recognizes the word "Jehovah" or Jehovah's Witnesses. JWs are allowed to preach there
A few in Christendom recognize them but still don't have a good opinion about them.

JWs don’t break up families
by Jules Saturn ini get very angry when i hear this claim being made by jws and get even angrier when i read the article they have on their faq section on jw.org which i’ll leave a link here:.
https://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/faq/families/.
i know that the majority of this article is written about having a spouse that isn’t a believer and how the bible encourages them to stay together but that’s one of the things that can cause division in a family, for an example if a son or daughter marry a nonbeliever or a worldly person the parents aren’t going to attend the wedding.. once i was told by an elder that if i continued with my behavior of wanting to seek worldly friends and worldly companionship that i would have to leave my home because the holy spirit would leave my house and that would have a huge impact on my family.

The cult can even incite its members to kill apostates, based on some Bible verses. Why cant break up ?

Is There Any Thing That Would Make A JW SERIOUSLY Question Their Religion?
by minimus ini realize that jehovah’s witnesses have been dumbed down for long time now.
.
still, i think there must be something that would make them really question their beliefs, even their life.. i think that if witnesses were told they could take blood or that disfellowshipping was unloving, they might stop and take a hard look at everything they have sacrificed their lives for.. i know the organization has muddled these subjects before but the i think even die hard witnesses might start to second guess the governing body..

As most have told here, its a variable on every individual. But for Everyone, deep in their hearts, would have some doubts, cognitive dissonance or discomfort about the "Truth", that may always disturb them.
If we could tap that, and constantly kindle it, I think we may succeed in waking them up

Why Jehovah witnesses don't say, "Bless you" ?
by Issa inbless you, that was a big sneeze you let out sister.. sister- ah, what does "bless you" mean?.
oh, it's pagan.
because people bless the soul of the person so they don't escape from their physical bodies.. sister- right, it is difficult to change the little things, but we can please jehovah by staying away from those things.. .... this is a scenario that happened when i accidentally (naturally) said "bless you" to the jw sister.

Bless you is Pagan according to JWs.
"Jehovah blessed me with a Bible study" is what all I heard regarding "Blessings" in the cult.

Is the Bible truly inspired?
by MrRoboto inso i was reading the book of daniel, starting with chapter 4 (nebuchadnezzar's famous tree chopping/banding dream where the 7 times is introduced) but i noticed that when you don't cherry pick verses and just read straight thru - it really seems like some children's book that was poorly written.
even though the borg says that this book as written by daniel, chapter 4 is clearly written by "king nebuchad·nezzar to all the peoples, nations, and language groups dwelling in all the earth" after the tree chopping business.
) of the rest of the chapters seem to be written in 3rd person (odd, if you are writing about your experiences).

I could write a book mentioning that my grandfather resurrected 100 people and that 500 people witnessed this event, and all of those eye witnesses are now dead.
I am sure that certain nuts would believe this and form a group to worship my grand daddy.

Yes, the Bible was inspired by its own writers and nothing more. If it was inspired by God there would be facts about the universe, human physiology, germs etc...
To the contrary, it contains a lot of absurdities, proven wrong by Science.
Moses, the supposed writer of Deuteronomy , writes about his own death in Deuteronomy 34:5. How could that be?
All gospels are written by anonymous writers and later labelled as :According to Mathew, According to.....
If I write a book, I would say something about myself, like the time and place I lived and so on, which is missing in most of the Bible Books.

Why pigs???
by stuckinarut2 inwhy did jesus supposedly cast the demons into a herd of pigs?.
(matt 8 / luke 8).
and, how were there so many demons inside one man, that when "released" by jesus, it took a whole pack of pigs to contain them??.

I admit that this blog has a lot of sensible posts too, which has been very useful and informative for me. But the topic discussed in this thread was anything but serious, for me.(Sending devils into pigs)
