  Was Hitler atheist?

  i've heard that hitler did what he did in the name of atheism from various theists - or at least that he was an atheist.

  i wasn't sure about it, but found this quote today.

  thoughts?.

  Hitler was not atheist. He believed in God, but not particular of the Christianity. He saw Christian God as a Jewish imagination. He grew up Catholic and believed in Providence. He said in 1938: " It is charged against me that I am against property, that I am an atheist. Both charges are false.”

  Any indication that he was atheist is fabrication in postwar era that could not imagine a person like A.H. believing in higher being. Generally umbiased studies of his regime and his personality came with a conclusion that he was a deist.

  The notion that old people have to die as a witness of times and views that do not fit with the current government agenda been around for centuries. This is certainly way for totalitarian regimes to control younger population that was unaware of the past values, opinions, and views. This was defined by Maximillien Robespierre who said in 1794 that it is a crucial for the Revolution to have all old people to die because they remember the Ancient Regime and will always regret the removal of the old order. WT is totaliarian organization, and needs to get rid off the population that remembered the past opinions and promises. WT will eventually put more emphasis to bring young people who will carry the burden of the organization while preaching updated new doctrines that are not associated with the past fiasco. When people joined WT just before 1975, they were often unware of the 1874-1925 prophecies. WT will do the same with again with new generation.

  the JW 1914/WWI connection doesn't make sense

  jws always touted wwis beginning in 1914 as evidence that the kingdom was born in heaven in that year.

  i was told that since satan was cast out of heaven, he started stirring up trouble on earth - like wwi.

  but theres one problem with that wwi started some months before oct 1914 (the month when the kingdom was supposedly born).. i asked jws about that in the mid 1980s, and i was told that satan started wwi before oct 1914 to divert attention away from the birth of the kingdom.

  WT puts too much emphasis on WWI as breaking point in the humanity, but for Europeans, it was rather forgotten war once WWII erupted. WWI started in July 28, 1914 before the JW claimed born of the invisible kingdom in October. However, [WT] fails to mention that war in Balkans was already in progress for several years as a result of disintegration of the Ottoman Empire and mutual war between Serbia and Bulgaria over Macedonia where others countries joined for their benefits. The war eventually spilled into A-U where Bosnia had huge Serbian minorities. Once the WWI ended, antiquated monarchies were gone, but much of the political structures remained intact until 1940's. France continued as III. Republic until 1940. Germany was still European superpower as was Soviet Russia [renamed USSR]. Countries that were created on the ruins of Austrian empire inherited pretty much entire political and economic system that surived interwar period until communist takeover.

  WT used to claim that WWII was a mortal wound of the Beast that went to abyss and returned with a full strenght. WWI has nothing to do with the heavenly Kingdom. Russell believed that the end of times started with Napoleonic Wars and French Revolution. When Rutherford usurped power over WT, there were no more any survivors of the Napoleonic Wars, so he moved the beginning of the end for another 100 years.

  Lois, I see that in my family. My parents were told to never grow old. They seen their members to die off, one by one. I know women who were in their prime to get married and have children in the 1970's to age alone, childless, forgotten. I do not talk about one or two cases, but about dozen of them in my old KH who waisted their lives and abilities for false promises. They were nice and they did not deserved that. The leadership in WT will try everything to get away from 1914 debacle, but the best way is to rid off contemporary witnesses of it. This can be only achieved by natural, biological way. If they wait enough for 20 years most of them will be gone. Younger people that came after 1995 during switch to overlapping generations will not know the past and will most likely not care what WT used to say decades ago. New

  Magnum, you are correct on the observation of the JW intellectual abilities. I have observed that JWs do not even know anymore common biblical verses and stories. They can recite WT publications, but cannot read bible on their own anymore. Additionally many in the leadership are half way in the grave, born in the 1920's, senile, and clueless with world that is around. They still think and work on established 1950's principles that do not have anymore appeal. In my native country the same people I had as elders and CO are still there. They were arelady middle aged men in the 1970's and 1980's, and they are still around! They seem immortal.

  I do not expect reformation within JW ranks. These debates were in secret in the 1990's when the generation nonsense was changed. German Refomation happened in span of 20 years (1517-1539) and that was 500 years ago. Today's JW membership is impotent reforming their own leadership producing while failure after another.

  To kneehighmiah, maybe WT is waiting for the older JW generation to die off. Remember these are people who came into the cult decades ago with belief that end was imminent and Armageddon is just behind the corner. Most of these people had parents and grandparents born before 1914 and they witnessed this generation to pass away. With 1914 debacle moving into distant memory, WT can in several years come up with a new false prophecy of the upcoming Armageddon and younger people can be drawn in. There are millions of people that go through personal crisis every day; the prospect of someone to solve all their problem in one strike like JW claim is enticing enough. What WT published 25-50-100 years ago? They will not care.

  My mom told me last month that she contributes from her small pension equivallent of $5 per month. Someone in her KH complained to her that she does not contribute enough and is spiritually weak. Yeah but they do not care that she put money for years to fund our first local KH...

  The do not call list

  i have posted before about my experience trying to get on the "do not call" list.

  despite repeated requests, a phone call to the hall and mailing a letter, and then giving a copy to a jw, they just keep coming by.

  i was going to put up a no soliciting sign, then i can call the police on them, but my husband doesn't want me to do it.. so, i decided if they come back i would have some fun.

  ok in the effort of full disclosure, i have had a couple of drinks and recently experienced a circuit assembly and a bad experience with a co.. i don't know where to effing begin.

  first of all the circuit assembly was a joke.

  half the assembly was about pioneering and selling your soul to be a no-pay salesman for the borg.
