doesnt sound symbolic, however since a 1,000 (human) years to us is 1 day to god, any proof that the 1,000 year reign will actually be 1,000 human years and not 1,000 god years?

Transhuman is correct, the 1000 years is symbolic. It was a standard belief in all traditional European mainstream religions.

In WT always had forces that were either conservative or progressive. As totalitarian, reactionary organization, the conservative forces seem to prevail. Currently, entire organization is in crisis as it reached a plateau in many countries to entice more members. The leadership turned into gerontocracy where men care more about maintaing the proper level of sugar in their bloodstream instead envision processes for another 20, 30 years. They were not prepared for it as they believed that the big "A" is just around the corner. I see that the same elders and CO that I had in the 1980's are still running the show, they were were old men back then and they turned into very old, senile men some of them approaching mid 80's and 90's. The next 10-15 years will be a real power struggle for the control of the organization between the very old and the old born in the postwar era. Once the sturggle will be over, they will again turn into regressive society with one goal to control their flock.

However, WT is fighting two major liabilities, one is the 1914 nonsense, and second is the division of the sheeps on annoited and the Great Crowd. Any significant changes would lead to exodus. Thereofre, they will have to come up with some phasing of the old doctrines and replaced them with new ones. Once this is established, the reactionary pressure followed by purges will follow. I don't get fooled that WT got less authoritarian.

Onthewayout, you are correct that Christians especially from the Northern America continues to think along the ancient Eurocentric views and current ethnocentric, American one. For 1.3 billions of Chinese and 1.1 billion of Indians, this view is completely invalid. WWI also did not devastate as much Europe as did WWII. My grandfarther fought in 1918 in Italy around the river Isorno and my great-grandfather was an officer of Austrian Army in Eastern front defending Lviv in 1917. WWI was a trench war that devastated only areas aftected by direct warfare: Belgium, northern France, Venetia, Poland and Ukraine, and Serbia. Large cities deep in the territory with exception of Paris did not witnessed warfare. Berlin, Vienna, Prague, St. Petersburg, Budapest, Milan, Munich, Hamburg, or Rome did not experienced any war devastation. Revolutions after 1918 were violent, but with exception of Budapest, they were not even battleground.

From top ten battles of the humanity, WWI does not stands out much. Sometimes Miracle of Marne is considered among them but was is as changing as the battles of Marathon, Carnae, Châlons, Hasting, Ayn Jalut, Lepzig?

BTW Paul had never met with Jesus in person. What he had seen and wrote could be just his invetion of a vidi imagination. Additionally, for millions of Jews in the 1st century and any point between then and today, Jesus is not a messiah and quite many do not believe that he ever existed.

As European born, WWI was nothing really turning point of history of entire human race and was never taught as in college either. It only ended what is called long century established by Congress of Vienna in 1815 that kept in check European powers from waging devastating war. Napoleonic Wars, Seven Years War, or 30 Years War were as much defining the European history as WWI. Napoleonic War ended 18th century Enlightenment, and 30 Years War is defining the end of the Renaissance. For millions of muslims, Chinese, or Latin Americans, all these conflicts were indirect. Less than 100 civilian American casualties were in WWI. Conquest of Asia by Genghis had far more reaching impact on WWI, as it involved as far as Poland, Bohemia, and Hungary in the west, Islamic powers of Egypt, Levant, and Baghdad in the south, and China, Burma, Vietnam, and Java in the Orient.

WWI did not not happened suddenly. The war in Europe was raging in the Balkans for several years before it spread out into major European power, Austria-Hungary. Serbs, Bulgarians, Albanians, and Ottomans were in war with each other for some time. BTW, Russell believed that Austria-Hungary is one of the ten horn. 1914 is nonsense, pulled by the Borg from ar.e twenty years after the fact. Until the Great Depression, the end of the time started in 1799.

And when it comes to 1st century AD, millions of Roman, Persians, and Chinese Han Empire went on their daily routine without any indication that their powerful empires were replaced by a man living in fringe, underdeveloped, primitive province in the Middle East. I have to give bonus to point to Larry, because it makes much more sense than the 1914 nonsense fabricated by WT.

1914 to 2014--Has Jesus been ruling for a 100 years?

Prologos, I am not sure when they changed the generation again and again, but I clearly remember from my Eastern European KH under the commies that Generation meant anyone who was born before 1914 and witnessed the changes after that year. I also remember that elder told me that my grandmother born in 1900 was a member of that generation even when she was not JW. We were told that the witness of the generation is everyone who remembered the start of WWI. I am not sure when it had changed again, but around 1980 this was teaching we were told. Also the elders used to say that people who were 80 years old had certainly heard of JW and the message of Jesus invisible presence, making them the generation mentioned in Matthew. Not everyone who heard preaching of Jesus in 33AD and witnessed the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD was his follower nor associated with the apostles. They were witness of his preaching. This was exactly explained it that way by the elders.

My experience with JW through raising up in the "truth", they really do not care what is written in Bible, but what organization say is written there. For them is the the organization the Noah ark necessary for survival. Everything else is unimportant even when it comes to have real relationship with God, because the association with the ark is a priority. Your last point is extremely true that NEVER independently examine the Org's doctrines with our friends/family. I remember that around 1980's the independent bible studies had cased, and from 1990 onward, the WT publication became the only acceptible to answer doctrine.
