Surprise ! Surprise ! 2015 Arrives and NO Armageddon or World's " End " - Go Figure
by flipper ini guess 99.9 % of ex-jw's here could have predicted as much .
armageddon didn't happen in 1914. it didn't happen in 1925. it didn't happen in 1975. and it did not happen in 2014. since the wt society first predicted a world's end when their organization started in 1879 - 126 years have passed which according to any dictionary in any human language 126 years comprises of 4 separate generations each totaling 30 years each.
plus 6 years into a 5th generation.

Iggy, I was small in 1975, but my JW aunt was telling me that I would not have to worry about school because I will be going to Jehovah school after upcoming Armageddon. That witch (she was really bad person) is dead, and I not only went through entire school system in the 70's and 80's, but chased two advanced degrees after I left WT 20 years ago. All JWs I knew who believed to live into the new world are dead. My parents are pushing 80 without Armageddon on sight. My JWs cousins are between 50 and 60 with failed health, and no Armageddon to rescue them. -

Finkelstein, you are correct on this that mainstream European Christianity (Catholic, Lutheran, Orthodox) teaches that they must live their lives each day as toward Jesus might return every day of living by humanity. This was already normalized in the 16th century when Catholic church considered various doomsday movements heretical and forbade its preaching. Doomsday cults in modern era are leftover of Reformation of England and USA since 18th century is the hotbed of various crazy end-date religions. -

Your explanation for a total contradiction in the New World Translation.
by Johnny Brown in"for if you publicly declare with your mouth that jesus is lord,+ and exercise faith in your heart that god raised him up from the dead, you will be saved.
10 for with the heart one exercises faith for righteousness, but with the mouth one makes public declaration+ for salvation.
11 for the scripture says: no one who rests his faith on him will be disappointed.+

I have several Bibles translations, two in Czech language, which often have different details. There was never universal consensus what OT & NT word means and how to translate it to the present language. This is a reason, why there are so many versions, translations, and reinterpretation of bible as far as was it put together during Roman times. Some religious groups refuse to use other translations and the schisms are old as the Christianity alone. There is huge difference between Roman Catholicism and their Latinized bible and Greek Orthodox on various words and these differences being source of disconnect for 1700 years. Even Jews do not have unified beliefs and have a diverse interpretation of Torah, OT, and books depending on Rabbinic tradition, schools, and regional influences. If Jews do have contradictions, Christians who stole Jewish Holy books have them as well. -

Using Third-World Poverty-Stricken Witnesses To Guilt More Donations Video, Where is that Video?
by SanLuisObispoTruthSeeker ini heard about a new video where the watchtower has a single mother and her child eating millet or rice with almost no material possessions worried about donating to the world wide work.
now most religions are trying to donate to third-world countries, not the watchtower profit enterprise, they are willing to take a families last milk cow so their leaders can spend those funds fighting pedophile lawsuits!.
every place the watchtower builds you read about the angry citizens having to pick up their tax bills because the watchtower only takes!

NVR2L8, you will never get straight answer from this douche bag. He will deny what he wrote. He posted very clearly that JW NEVER starved to death despite everyone knows what happened to many during WWII, nor how many died by hunger in places like Lenigrad in 1941-1944. This is documented and anyone can ask Russian JWs who are three four generations how was it there during WWII. -

insidetheKH, the monkey from Bethel, this is all what you got you used douchebag? You did not drive truck in the 1980's into Czechoslovakia not Czecho-Slovakia because such state entity never existed with WT supplies. You lie, because this never happened in Czechoslovakia in that time, nor there was ever food bank in 1980's for this country because Czechoslovakia never starved even under communism. Food bank to Romania in 1989 happened right after the Romanian Revolution, where during upheaval entire distribution of food collapsed. I was in Romania in 1988, year before Ceausescu execution, and I know how problematic was it to get travel permit. You will not be able to travel there during Cold War with truck full of JW supplies to Czechoslovakia nor Romania as both countries were isolated. You lie, lie, lie; so crawl back under Bethel rock. I bet brother Zendulka and the pack from ex-Bethel in Prague, would not be happy that monkey like you is posting on apostate web site so douche like you can feel so important and superior with lies. BTW, your screen name reflects your cranium stuffed from sh!t from WT idiocy.
Maybe you should change SN into insidetheKHmind with avatar as turd matching your personality.

NVR2L8, of course JW starved, not only during WWII, but also during Stalin, and during deep economic crisis in Eastern Europe in 1989-1991. This lying c**t insidetheKH lied in here: "Anyway.. there are no Jehovah's Witnesses starving to death anywhere on this world.. and there never were." He is in denial or he shamelessly lies; this is the only thing he was taught in Bethel. Of course he will deny that JWs never starved; and will deny that in 1989 JWs made food banks for starving JWs in Romania, something I had participated; and he will deny or lie about food bank that JWs did in postwar Switzerland for Germany and Austria.
insidetheKH: Over the years I have seen 4 continents and visited many congregations in 3rd world countries, i know what i witnessed." So you are douche from the Bethel and you think you are superior to other. Anyway, you are liar, you always were liar, and you will die as JW liar. Crawl back into Bethel, and STFU hypocrite. WT would not look kindly that you troll apostate web sites, but I hope they do find out, because you will deserve it!Everyone who is attempting to discuss anything with insidetheKH, you are wasting your time. This troll often harass others, but when proved wrong he will crawl back to his Bethel with rodent tail between his leg. There is no constructive debate with crazy mind.

ancient ruins
by crazyguy1 inthey have discovered a temple complex in turkey they call gobekli tepi and another in southern iran they tentatively call arata.
both of these sites were discovered in the last decade or two and are being dated to older then 12000 years ago.
can anyone explain how they go about dating these site since carbon 14 dating doesnt work on stone and theres no patina or very little since these places were buried?

There are dozen different materials that can be used in dating, not just only carbon. On geological features, there can be K-Ar dating for minerals millions years old. Carbon dating is rather accurate to 45,000 years or approximately 8 half times. Other methods like Ionimum-thorium-232 dating is widely used in sediments with halflife of 75,000 years. Besides radiometric dating, there are other methods like pollen, sediment, electromagnetic dating.
One important feature for dating the age of the early settlements is glaciation which retracted and repeated the process for period of several hundred thousands years. There was a brief period of warm-up in 25000 years ago followed by rapid glaciation in Europe, Asia, and Northern America, which ended around 10,000 BC. This glaciation period is very easy to spot in terrain, sediments, flora, fauna, and elsewhere, and can determine population migration before the last Ice Age and interglacial period.

My dub aunt thinks Obama is mentioned in the bible.
by Jehovah lol inshe's not even american and doesn't live in the usa so it's not even her area of political awareness really.
she seems convinced that obama is the prophesied wolf in sheep's clothing mentioned in revelation.. it's unusual for non-us dubs to hold the weirder beliefs, so this is a new one for me.
she also said that the end is very close now and that things are a foot with north korea; it's clearly the king of the north.. she said exactly the same thing 5 years ago about china, and exactly the same thing 10 years ago about iraq.. derp derp..

I remember in the 1986 when some JWs insisted that Gorbachev was the man in the Bible, Gog, etc, because of his mark on the forehead. If you look into history, there were hundreds of politicians, kings, royals, and dictators who were through to be prophesied in the Bible. Charles IV, Robespierre, Nero, Attila, Alaric, were all considered to be mentioned in bible or were believed to be antichrist. -

Do current JWs like to have Bible discussions?
by Magnum inon another thread rufus t. firefly made this interesting comment:.
my wife is a "zealous" regular pioneer who never talks about the bible or "the truth" and who has no interest in conducting a bible study with anyone.
this is how one remains a jw.. i decided to start a new thread to discuss this, since i didn't want to veer completely off the topic of the original thread.. i can relate to what rufus said - not concerning my wife, but other close jw family members.

In the 1980's behind the Iron Curtain with insufficient WT publications, we used to conduct Bible studies at home in group of 5 to 10. We discussed what we read and shared one WT publication to trying to figure out what was written there. These studies were really nice as many people had different opinion, and there was not strict guidelines as they were mostly transmitted orally and not official. After 1989, these biblical discussion ended, and primary responsibility on christian ideology was derived from WT only. It was also discouraged that we should not study bible on our own that could sidetrack us to apostate thinking. I have noticed that many JWs who came into the cult at that time had very limited knowledge of the Bible and could not even locate many well known events in it. When I talk to my JWs relatives and point stuff in the Scriptures they are often surprised to see them but they are not aware at all that it was even there. -

Smiddy, I do not know when it started, but in past two years I hear complains from my JW family that WT needs more money and donations. My mom often points out that 20 years ago nobody asked her; but back then we had donated a lot of money so we can build our first KH, which was build from our local contributions. Since my mom contributes for decades and surely every week when she is on program, she felt it insulted when elderette asked her why she puts only 100 crowns (which is the smallest paper bill) when she could afford to put more. All my JW relatives who are in different congregations complained that the donations are demanded and required instead of a time, when they were voluntary as I remember. I left the cult in April of 1994, so I do know only the religion who was at that time, which surely evolved into organized group with well paid priesthood.
I think the money is the biggest reason behind awakening of both of my sibling and my mom, instead flip flopping doctrines, and all other BS with JW religion. At least both of them feel that WT is not right on this. Money is something that people relate to it more on personal level, than 7 times of 360 nonsense and parousia, and this shakes more in their beliefs than all other nonsense.
