I know Prologos you are German. I never understand why Germany after 1945 wanted Eastern Europe to suffer under Soviet boots. When Czechoslovakia was occuppied by Soviets in 1968 almost universally majority West German took it with delight as an act well done. Germans loved to see Czechoslovakia struggling to get freedom and succumbed to Brezhnev. These articles were published in West German press and were known in Czechoslovakia after 1968. My stepdad lost his brother in August 1968 and was never seen again, probably ended in some of the mass graves.Tens of thousands refugees from the Soviets were treated as traitors by the Western Left because they refused to live in worker paradise. Until 1989 West Germany did nothing to help overthrowing communist regime unlike UK, USA, and certain degree France. I remember Mitterrand in Prague in the 1980's defying commies to get V. Havel released from prison. I grew up in Soviet occupied country where only hope was USA. After 1989 the region struggled with post-communist disintegration which was accompanied by deep economic recession. Germany undermined many integration projects from the beginning. Highway between Germany and Czech Republic could be completed in 1997 when it ended on the Czech side, but this did not happen until 12 years later. No energy or utility grid is integrated between both countries. Germany is the biggest opponent of USA bases in Czech Republic and Poland. It heavily pressured Polish government to abandon Ukraine. Kohl and many other German officials are considered working for Russians. Czech, Polish, Ukraine press compare present situation with 1939 when Germany with Russia divided the continent under the sphere of influences. American press is catching it as well so does British. Without USA and NATO, Russia will take over Ukraine as whole, then Baltics, and afterwards Central Europe East Germany. Russian leadership also dreams in incorporating Balkans and Finland as well under its control. And Germany supports its.

Formal Introduction - Hi!!!
by Gustv Cintrn inbeen lurking here for yyyyyeeeeears, but was too busy with school, jw life and other interests.
now that i'm done with education for the time being anyway, plus the jw life is under pretty good control, i can spend some time and throw my views here and there in some attractive topics.. born-in, and deeply indoctrinated, but with life experience came better comprehension of my lot in life and have come to accept that, just like the family one is born into, jws are my family, friends, my ultimate and overall identity.
a jw is what i am; like the song 'hotel california', and like so many on this board, check out anytime you'd like but one could never leave.. remember like it was yesterday the failed 'the wolf is coming' calls of 1975, mid-80s, late 90's, y2k, 2004 or so, and same will be with the latest effort to get people overly excited about 'the end'.

WT is cult and there is nothing to change it. Borg can from time to time relax attitudes to only harden them later. I remember these double talks in the 1990's when they say that with constant work and no fun, mind go crazy. This was word that my CO said in 1992. Whatever WT had to say today, it will be irrelevant in future as the light changes and so are doctrines. 1914 is moving into distant history and Borg will made out new year to base their false prophecy to lure younger suckers.

My Story: from JW Elder to Born Again Christian to Agnostic
by passwordprotected ini first posted here on 3rd june 2008. at the time i was an elder, appointed the previous october, i was 36 and i was a born-in.
at the time i'd become disillusioned with the society due to the governing body's letter explaining why the book study in private homes was being abolished.
april 2008 saw me start questioning this decision, privately of course, and this eventually led me to this site, to jwfacts and to many youtube videos, all of which began to errode my faith in the leaders of the organisation.. in july 2008, having discussed my doubts with my wife, i attended the district convention, deciding to give the society one last chance to convince me it was the truth.

Excellenet post. I went through similar searching and went through this phases in rapid successive wave and I was in my 20s'. Twenty years later, I am stopped to care about grand scheme that is not there for me. The biggest help to my exit from Christianity were my Jewish friends and later studies with rabbi to learn the context of OT and nonsense of NT. I stopped figuring out what is life purpose and path for me as part some grandiose God's plan, when I know that only certainity I have is this short lifespan and to take a care of people I love around me. Thr life goes on and there is nothing else anyone can do anything about it than make the best of it. There is no assurred reward nor salvation.

I find all religious ceromonies ridiculous. If you go into evangelical churches in USA where people hip-hop with arms in the air and screaming "O praise him" or catholic church where priest is followed by pack of hillariously dressed young boys, I gladly say I do not want any part of it. And other frindge churces are as crazy as these, or even more.

Europeans NEVER cared about one another. Never. When Czechoslovakia (or Hungary) was attacked by Soviet Union, nobody in Europe rised a single voice of support against injustice. Not single time during cold war. It was only Reagan who dared to push Soviet limits. All Europeans complied and many would like to return into decades when USA paid for the Western defenses, while East was brutally oppressed by colonial power. When I was in Western Europe before 1989 and I had to hear from the westerners how dare these fascist, ungreatfull Czechoslovaks are for opposing glorious empire like Soviet Union that meant so well for peace and stability of Europe. Who cared in Europe when Prague or Budapest was littered with burned bodies and destroyed buildings after 1956 or 1968 invasions? What did Europe do when Serbian sieged Sarajevo for 3 1/2 yearsthat caused deaths of tens of thousands people there in the 1990s? Europe did nothing for stop rise of Hitler or Stalin. Europe would do absolutely nothing for Ukraine. If Russki will bomb Kiev, they will not care a bit. Europeans always kissed Russia; before 1989 it was the extreme bolsheviks; today it is right wing parties that see in Moscow a salvation from decadent West. The biggest supporter today of Russian's takeover of Eastern Europe is Germany. Its policy since 1990 was compliance towad Russia and they were the biggest opponent NATO and EU expansions toward eastern Europe. They opposed moving US bases there as well. The biggest opponent of both Russia and Germany is Poland and they know why due experiences from 1939. American press notices in this article something what is know in Central and Eastern Europe for 25 years:
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/06/opinion/why-germans-love-russia.html?_r=0
It is not American problem to solve European mess and I sometimes hope that for once Russia or Arabia will take over entire continent and Americans would not have to lift a finger a bit. They would deserve it.

Various biomathematics model estimates that number of people that ever lived is close between 80-100 billions. Less than 10% of today's population represents every human that ever lived. Population of 1 billion was already supprased 200 years ago, and 2 billions lived already 100 years ago. Human race had since the end of the Ice Age more than 10 millions and reached 500 millions by time of Romans. Roman Empire in its peak had 125 millions, 65 millions lived in Persian and Han empires at the same time. Russell believed in exact number of people that would saved which was 144,000 x 144,000 in a new world. Between 1874 and today more than 12 billion of people were born using 1950-1970 human growth rate. Since 1970's the birthrate is declining even in countries like Brazil, Iran, and China.

Problem with immortality is the finite space and limit of human body, not to mention resources. Even our universe is finitive. The immortality can only work in the space which is not time depended, but this cannot happen in our 3D world. Also, OT did not have not promissed immortality. When Moses was about to die, he beg, reason, argue with God about getting a chance. He did not get it. Reward in after-life was mentioned for righteousness, but not in this world. So even back in the Bronze age, som individuals were awere of the limit of immortality on earthly domain.

donuthole, thanks for your input. You wrote exactly what I had mentioned above. There were always a pack of JWs who were critical of the leadership, but stilll held a belief that WT is really the God's channel of communication and are in mission reform it. Other see themselves as an ancient prophet with a divine purpsoe to return organization to God's mission. Even if they were DF's they see it as a sign for being right and prosecuted as did prophets in Old Testament, and WT as anciet Isreal. I am highly doubtful on intention of these people.

Fudging the Numbers: Is the WTBTS in decline?
by Coded Logic init's no secret that the wtbts has a cash flow problem.
over the past three years they have closed 20 of their 116 branches.
they have sold off most of their properties in and around ny (including some kingdom halls), drastically reduced the # of printed pages for the watchtower and awake magazines, reduced the printing of books and other materials, increased the number of single page tract campagnes, installed cc machines at their assembly halls, and are now seizing of controll of property assets from local kingdom halls using renovation projects.

All valid points. In the industrial world, JWs had reached saturation point and the demographics does not go well for their faith. People in Europe, Japan, and Northern America had aged and there is no easy for proselyte older population. 35 years ago, there was still a huge tail of postwar population boom in these countries who were 25-35 years old when they joined the cult. There is just not enough young people who are willing to jump into new crazy religion. The growth in industrial world is stagnant the best. Significant growh is comming from underdeveloped countries where population does not possess critical thinking skills to analyze religion indoctrination. It is always much harder to proselyte in countries that went through deep secularization like France, Estonia, or Czech Republic versus countries were faith is an integral part of anyone identity.
When it comes to donations, years 2008-2012 were bad due deep economic recession. While the global crisis started in USA and UK sooner than elsewhere, in many industrial countries like Spain, Italy, Ireland, and Greece, it peaked in 2011 and did not yet recovered. Even less affected countries reached their peak in 2008 in 2014. It will take another five years to see really demographic and economic trend among JW. Considering that even deep recession did not boost their ranks, I doubt that they will succeed in recovering economies.
Third world is major fishing ground for religions including JWs. But WT is not only player there. Catholic, mormon, Islam, and other faith compete there heavily for the souls.

Celebrating 100 years of Armageddon NOT coming
by Smiles inwill they "celebrate" 120 yrs... 150 yrs... 200 yrs... ?.
when will it stop?.
the wt now has its organization actually celebrating.

I think the invisible Armageddon is possibility. Alternatively they can claim that it was postponed. I still believe that WT will put these lies for another 20 years and until 2034 so they can have enough time for the old generation of JW to die off and younger will be excited on the new light about imminent armageddon. My evil aunt dragged my parents into the cult in the 1970's, my father eventually stopped with study, but mom proceded, got baptised in 1970's. She is still in at the end of her life expectancy, and so is my sibling. Generation that should never die, is dead. My aunt is dead, but she produced bunch of children who are a vital JWs and make singificant membership in local KH. WT can play the end-game scenario for many many years ahead.
