I saw the new 'Godzilla' film last night, in a reasonably packed theater, and found it to be good escapist summer fun. Perfect for the entire family. I don't even recall hearing any strong language. Very refreshing.

Dinosaurs.
by bobert inas a jw i always believed that dinosaurs at one point existed.
my whole family did, almost all the jws i knew did.
one time i was out for dinner, and one of the people with us was convinced that they never existed.

Relationship with Jehovah?
by Batman89 inwhen you were a devout jw.
did you feel that you had an actual "relationship" with jehovah/god just from praying to him and reading the wt or bible?.
or that this was actually even possible deep down?.

I've never felt like I was 'saved'. But then I've never felt like I was 'lost' either.

Rule for a thousand years
by Crazyguy inis there a specific scripture that says jesus will rule for a thousand years???
in rev chapter 20 the indication is that the bride will also be reserected and rule (reign) with christ for a thousand years.
the gb states that these ones are starting to be reserected in 1918, 4 years to late and yet by 1935 there was still about half of these ones still yet to die.

Edmonton Convention 200 kms Away
by jgnat inthis has come up before but we ran in to an old guy from the hall over the weekend and he confirmed a few things about the change of edmonton venue this year.
i'd mentioned this old fellow, too.
a rare friend from the kingdom hall, a real character, and i genuinely miss him.

Why spend the entire weekend sitting thru a convention that is a total buzzkill? Spend the money saved to take an ENJOYABLE trip somewhere else. You don't owe anyone an 'explanation'. If the Elders or anyone else asks why you were absent, just say: 'I have nothing to say about the matter'. Keep repeating this until they stop asking.

My daughter's wedding dilemma
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy daughter will be getting married this coming august.
she and her future husband are not jehovah's witnesses.
they will have a non-religious wedding ceremony.

My advice is to totally forbid ANY discussion or acknowledgement of anyone's religion. Pretend they are ALL atheists. That takes the entire subject of 'religion' off the table. Invite who your daughter wants to invite, not worrying about what 'religion' they are involved with. Refuse to discuss the matter before, during or after the wedding. People can practice their religion in their places of worship, but that doesn't mean they get to dictate their religious concerns in non-religious settings. If anyone brings up the subject of 'who's coming' or 'why is he here?' simply say: 'I have nothing to say about that matter'. Keeps repeating as often as necessary.Do NOT get involved in ANY discussion about it. Then let the chips fall where they may. You have NO responsibility for what 'Other people' think or do. Have a great wedding day!!!

Question about the anointed selection process
by FL_Panthers inthere was a sister in my hall who consumed the emblems during our last memorial.
thing is, she is 27. the elders didn't stop her and no one was like wtf.
can someone be anointed at age 27?.

It would be hilarious if EVERY JW made the decision to be 'anointed' and partake of the emblems. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at that Memorial!!! But I highly doubt that many dedicated JWs have the balls to try something that radical.

All this speculation would be laughable if it wasn't so pathetic. The entire 'resurrection' hope is just made-up drivel. There will be no resurrection. When you're dead, you're dead. That's all, Folks!!

Did other JWs judge you? What for?
by Julia Orwell insome judged me for going/having gone to university.
some judged me for being 'too smart.
' some judged my non jw brother for being in the army.

Another excellent reason to quit going to meetings or any other JW activity. Life is too short to spend it as the victim of gossiping busybodies. Leaving them behind is the best revenge.
