my brother is so frustrating! arrgh!

ok, well my brother is really the only one in my family that continues to freely associate with me.

he is two years younger than me (19) and has always looked up to me-for some reason.

he has been dating a girl name tess for the last couple months or so in the traditional dub fasion (barely any contact).

Should they even be dating at this point? It sounds to me like they both need to learn a few things - FAST - before they think of getting married. They don't talk about her monthly cycles or contraception? But they don't want kids? Sorry, but this sounds like a recipe for disaster. Also, the first 2 years of a marriage are already one hell of an adjustment without compounding things by living with parents.

Before getting married a couple needs to talk about EVERYTHING in minute detail, and there will still be surprises later. I know. I'm there.

There are a number of valid reasons for a person not to work. Temporary unemployment, physical disabilities, retraining, or child rearing are all good reasons. But he's not thinking of the future. I made the same mistake once, and had to be retrained in my mid thirties due to an on the job injury. It can happen to anyone. He could be unemployed for periods of time, or disabled. He may get hit by a bus. It would be a lot easier if she has a job from the beginning than if she tries entering the workforce during middle age or later.

At 19 and working in a gas station, he'd be better off getting an education first, and maybe living on his own for a while before thinking of getting married.

I really hope they wait, and maybe learn a few things through education and experience. And I hope they get past that JW thinking.

tattoos...did you rebel and get one?

after i left the "troof" the first thing i did was run out and get a tattoo.now ,some 18 years later i still dont regret it.i even have gotten a couple of new ones in the past couple of years......i mean not that i am covered in them,but i think if a women has them ,there is nothing wrong with that has long as they are not all over everywhere.ie...neck,face or lower arms......... i just think it is sexy on a man..( a few....not on the same areas as the women ..ie..face and neck as well.

) but for a women to have them all over her is not attractive....i think for a women to have a couple in a suddle place..( like for your partner to see or find.lol) is sexy as well...this girl in our town, has them covering her face and arms.i just think she looks scary......(i do also think that they must be done professionally and kept realistic.

)...i know your not to judge a book by its cover but, this girl wonders why, parents will not let children to her house to play with her child?

What does the word "apostate" mean to you ?

what i'm asking is what thought strikes you when you hear an xjw being called an "apostate".

that term makes me think.

But, being free, I now want to help others be free too, so I'll un-witness whenever I get a chance.

The "New Personality"

when we were jw's we were constantly reminded to put on a "new personality".

now, before i was a jw i was friendly and easy to get along with.

it only took a few years of exposure to the cult before i noticed personality changes.

When we were JW's we were constantly reminded to put on a "new personality". Now, before I was a JW I was friendly and easy to get along with. It only took a few years of exposure to the cult before I noticed personality changes. Others noticed too. I was constantly in a state of anger, and it was at it's worst the last few years. I felt as though I hated everyone, and could practically mutilate anyone who crossed my path. Naturally, I kept this under control, but it caused a lot of stress, and as a result, health problems like high blood pressure.

Now that I'm out, only for a few months, I'm noticing a change. I'm feeling more like the calm laid-back person I used to be. I no longer view other people as mere obstacles to be overcome. My blood pressure is ok now, and I don't even need the medication for it any more.

How about you? Were you always angry as a JW? How has your personality changed since leaving the cult?
