What you are referring to is an increase in Corporate taxes. Mr. McGuinty has never minced words about doing away with some of the tax breaks given to corporations by the Tories. It was the rich that were getting these breaks. Not you, not me.
Even if this additional $550 million in revanue were to be passed on to residents in it's entirety, (and no one said it would be) it would amount to less than $46.00 per year per person.
Considering the current state of our health care and other public services, $46.00 a year is not so much. Who knows, it may prevent someone from dying of E.Coli.
Maybe I, after living in my own home for nearly 3 years, I will be able to find a doctor nearby who is willing to take on new patients so I won't have to drive half way accross Toronto every time I need a prescription renewed. Maybe my mother wouldn't have to stay in a hospital 1 hour out of Toronto because the Tories have trashed health care, leaving Toronto hospitals without room for her.
Maybe fewer people would die en route to hospitals if more of the emergency rooms were reopened. Several people here have died because emergency rooms turned away ambulances.
When were talking about human lives, $46.00 a year, less than 13 cents a day, doesn't seem so high to me.
