Not only do they not approve of counselling but they strongly discourage it; even if you're depressed. That is why the suicide rate is so high amongst Jehovahs Witnesses. The control is just overwhelming.

Elder Explains NGO Issue...Now It Is Clear!
by exjdub inquite a while ago an older sister stopped by my door, and stupid me, i let her know my life story in a nutshell.
faded for 7 years, former ministerial servant, blah blah blah.
i think the reason i did it is that she reminded me of my mom and she caught me at a weak moment.

The elder is not the sharpest tack in the desk, but he has always been nice to me and respectful, which is more than I can say for most of the dubs.
Oh... those people. I know. They probably have loads of family in it. It's hard to accept lies when everything that you believe in will be taken away from you if you dare question it's authority.

Storing your own Blood directly contradicts the Mosaic Law on Blood, and Jehovah's Witnesses should not store their own Blood. Blood must not be stored. Blood must be poured out on the ground. Preoperative Autologous Donation (PAD) is against God's Law on Blood. Jehovah's Witnesses do not donate Blood for other people, and Jehovah's Witnesses do not store their own Blood before surgery.
Now this burns me.... they take medications that are made from blood yet they will not donate blood, even if it's for the making of the medication that they take.
Ummm... er um ok.

I don't miss having my every activity scrutinized and judged, the gossipy, backstabbing, demoralizing atmosphere, the constant push to do more and the resulting feelings of inadequacy.
What an incredible statement! It sums up perfectly what I thought of the dubs towards the end.
I don't miss one dammed thing. The funny thing was whilst I was in the 'loving' true 'brotherhood' I couldn't imagine my life any other way than for 'the organization'.... er um... Jehover.
Nope. Not one thing. Great thread, DH!

You know, I was gonna go to Lake Louise or Banff and work for a year or two back in the early 80s. It's soooooooo beautiful there, how can you stand it???
I've climbed nearly every mountain over in those parts, and hiked every trail if it was multi-day. How do I stand it? It ain't hard, LOLOL!
Yeah, I'm a money whore too!
Maybe next year I'll get out to the rock and check you guys out.... I'm planning a trip maybe to Toronto next year and would love to hop out to the east coast. It would be cool to meet for coffee.
Anyhoo, too far in advance to be planning this.... just tickling your ears.
