losing jehovah was like losing a girlfriend that you loved.
you barely had time to flinch when you found out that she had been sleeping with all your friends and stealing your records to pawn off.
that you had just been another sucker on the vine.. when jehovah dumps you, you start looking at yourself longer and harder, and wondering what it was about him that you found in yourself, until all you see there in the reflection is just yourself, dancing with an imaginary hand and waistline.. when jehovah was gone, and the war was over, i realized that all the things that had made me "good", and "moral", and "hate what was bad", didn't mean anything to me anymore.

Right on, my man....right on. I can dig it!

*Tonight on Def Poetry Jam..........Tetrapod...*clap clap clap clap*
the story is beyond excellent.
every line is so well crafted and the story, published in the new yorker magazine in 1997, is much more than two young men falling in love.
one of the major themes of the movie is fear.
Welcome Peter123
I have the audio book. You are right it is a very well written story. I never really thought about the parallels to JW's. That is interesting, thank you for sharing.

a friend of ours visits us for the weekend from time to time and he parks his car on the street in front of our house.
the past two weekends someone (im guessing they live nearby) has egged his car!
i don't think it's a personal thing (meaning i seriously doubt he knows the pranksters personally) rather i think its just some teens walking by seeing an easy target.
LOL Elseware! wish i lived in Texas! Hmm I wonder what Washington State law says?
I would suggest setting up a video camera and getting them on camera; Works for nannies and obnoxious neighbors.
good idea, thanks

Anybody have a good way to catch them in the act? I've told my friend to park his car in our driveway instead of on the street because if they came on our property it would be tresspassing. Any of you been a victim of a prankster or better yet, catch a prankster in the act?

we went to our favorite beach, met up with some of our local friends.
we don't have much in the way of details - but heard some devasting news that ari (well known to seattle area exjw's and i am sure by many on the board) killed himself sometime over last weekend.
he was so excited about moving to maui, and starting a new life here.
This is so sad... he was a wonderful person.

Relax. It's a movie. You don't want to go see it then don't. Period. It is rather interesting that you feel it necessary to dedicate a post to loudly proclaim why you won't see it.
I heard the same thing from 3 other people so I don't think I'll be wasting my money on it.
I don't understand why people would refuse to read a book, watch a movie, or go see a play for that matter simply because some other people said they didn't like it. I'd always want to find out for myself. Sometimes I've agreed, other times I've been pleasantly suprised.
