I agree with most of you this does sound awful convenient. I mean honestly if Iraq had this capability why wouldn't they have used it in the early days of the war, or when Saddam was captured? Actually now in the 9/11 report they're going to find a black glove with Saddam's DNA all over it at ground zero of the Twin Towers.

Do JW really spy on people in the congregation?

do elders or any other members of a congregation actively spy on others?

Oh joy I get to share a story. When I was just about gone and attending college I was actually spied on. I wrote about it on Tishie's board when it happened. I got up in the morning and drove to school where I noticed a car following me. I wouldn't have noticed but for the fact the week before a ministerial servant (on his way to elder) had brought it to the Kingdom Hall and bragged about buying it, that and the fact it was BRIGHT YELLOW. The sad part is at that point I had no friends that weren't witnesses, and I had no friends that were, the only place I was going was school, then to work, then back to school again. The whole day I got followed, what a boring day that must have been? When I got home they pulled onto a side street and I told my mother (a devout witness), I called the police. She ran outside and they were gone before the police got there. I knew who it was, I just said I didn't know who they were, just that they were following me all day. They took a description of the car and the license plate and left. I never got followed again.

How Many Here Are "Technically" Still JWs???... Who's Not??
by minimus inwhat i mean is according to the society, there are a number of persons that are "technically" "inactive" yet are viewed as jws still.

Looking for some advice...
by NKyGuy ini have been inactive for the past 5 years or so.
i just could not bring myself to sit through meeting after meeting of the same thing any longer.. however, my wife and children are still regular and as such are preparing to go to the district convention next month.. for the past 4 years i have been able to avoid going to it with commitments to work, etc.
unfortunately this year it is not the case and my wife has made it very clear that she expects me to go with her.. how do i express to her that i don't want to spend 3 days of my life in uncomfortable clothing, sitting in a hot arena, listening to information that makes me want to stab pencils into my ears?

Honestly people all of these suggestions so as not to hurt her feelings and explain your stance....not that I don't agree, absolutely if you can get away with explaining your side and stuff that's great more power to you but the easiest way to get out of the district convention is just fake like you're sick. I used to do that as a kid, there's no way you can "control" whether you're sick or not. She can't get mad at you for being sick, remember you have no control over it.

I've always wanted to say "When someone hands you a flyer don't you feel they're really telling you 'here you throw this away'" then gladly accept the magazines. Or when they ask me if they return I could say something like "Well...I'll have to ask my dark lord and companion Lucifer if it's alright." I could pretend to be a Russelite and offer to break out the older publications from C.T. Russell. So much to do such little time...and no I've been out since I was around 19 or nearly 20 and have yet to have someone come to my door. I'm actually glad no one has, I'm sure it would lead to something bad.

I want just one article to end in a way I didn't expect. Like "Can you worship God in your own way", the finishing sentence could say "In summary we've learned that worshipping God in your own way can lead to tooth decay, worshipping Jesus in your own way leads to herpes and through not reading the Watchtower and Awake! along with it's accompanying literature will lead to heavy drug use and prostituting" Ok well the last part actually was said.

Convention Drama creeps out JWs?
by ezekiel3 ini am getting news from jws who have attended the district convention that the drama (which is pre-recorded and played to lip-syncing actors) has a demon-possessed woman with a ?demonic voice?.
can anyone confirm this?
it is said to be pretty creepy sound effect and many jws are uncomfortable when they hear it.
