  7 A conflict of loyalties may arise when a close relative is disfellowshipped. For example, a sister named Anne [1] received a telephone call from her disfellowshipped mother. The mother wanted to visit Anne because she felt pained by her isolation from the family. Anne was deeply distressed by the plea and promised to reply by letter. Before writing, she reviewed Bible principles. (1 Cor. 5:11;2 John 9-11) Anne wrote and kindly reminded her mother that she had cut herself off from the family by her wrongdoing and unrepentant attitude. “The only way you can relieve your pain is by returning to Jehovah,” Anne wrote.—Jas. 4:8.

  
  

  First I was speechless when I read that.

  When talking about "shunning", some brothers told me that the Watchtower doesn't mean to cut families. After this it can't be clearer to me, that this is not true.

  How does the pained mother feel? She is socially isolated and maybe has nobody to go to, nobody to speak to. Maybe she is suffering from deep depression and maybe she even has some thoughts of suicide.
  

  How would you call advice and pressure, to separate a "pained" mother from her child?

  To me that is just simply "evil."

  What's about the bible advice to honor your father and mother? The Watchtower Organisation just flushes that through the toilet.

  I think even if all Watchtower teachings would be true and beneficial, the above mentioned "shunning" of family members and friends would be proof enough, that it is NOT from the true God.

  The best advice I can offer to those trying to meet people and get a new social circle after leaving JW's.

  if like me, when you left the kh, your entire social network was gone.

  how do you meet people of the opposite sex or make new friends, etc?

  clubs, bars?

  Some very good advice. Thank you.

  In my case I made some really good friends at my working place.

  One good friend was the new person renting my former apartment when I left the apartment. We had a lot of sympathy, I told him my story and we kept in contact.

  In general I made the experience that it is important to take the action and invite friendly people to your home or ask them to do something together.

  It for sure needs time and is not easy for a shy person but it is worth the effort.

  a year to a year and a half ago, i would have taken this article at face value and believed it.. now, i realize this article comes from a dubious source.

  world news daily has a die-hard right-wing bias.

  so, in an effort to get real information, i'm asking my european exjw's, is this article all true?

  The Syrian refugees flee from terror and war.

  It is obvious that no one can live a decent life in this hell of a war. Any normal person in such a situation would do anything possible to flee from such a place.

  Many people in Germany are extremely helpful and many volunteer to help those refugees.

  Germany and Sweden take most of the refugees in an unprecedented humanitarian effort. All my respect to them. I think all of us living in this area must do what we could to help those refugees. We can't let them freeze to death on fields in eastern europe.

  In general, people in Europe know exactly, that weapons or firearms are no protection at all from crime and terrorism.

  I am proud of this and the fact that human rights and the "pussified" pascifism is the heart of european society.

  In my company (Swiss Railways) I am happy to see that there are a lot of foreigners and also muslim colleagues. To commit an act of terrorism would not cross their minds because they enjoy this free society based on human rights more than islamic fundamentalism.

  i had heard that the dub's were trying to get people to go to israel and then you never hear anything after that.

  The people who protested are not a bit better than the JWs.

  Why is it for JWs and for all the other religious fundamentalists so difficult to understand that one who leaves a religion is not a lesser person?

  so, if lying or being deliberately misleading is a "disfellowshipping" offence, why haven't the brothers who lied to the australian royal commission been brought before a judicial committee?

  Just imagine that Jackson, Spinks etc are sitting in their Judicial Committees for lying or "bearing false witness" in their Royal Commission testimonies.
