yes - painful to me - been there - done that -I just have a drinking problem now. I think the best friend of quite a few elders are Jim and Jack.
I of course mean Beam and Daniels.
any bethelite whom served the past 5/6 years remembers gerritt loesch's morning worship when he mentioned over 40% of those in special full-time service (bethel, missionary, co, do) were on antidepressants, such as prozac.
serious phenomena affecting many, but throw the tight reins, multiplies it.

anyone out there --- please be so kind to recommend the dawkins' children book re evolution.
i've ordered magic of reality but have a feeling it's the wrong book.
didn't see a children's book listed at amazon.
Post 44 of 44 Since 1/4/2012 | Dawkins's Magic of Reality is a super book! Give it your kids with confidence - and do read it yourself. This guy is a splendid writer and scientist. For all those of you who think you didn't really grasp what scientific enquiry was all about whilst you were at school, this is the book to get. Readership age range? 9 to 90, I'd say. |
TOTALLY AGREE + 100
there's something in your inbox.....and it's not from publisher's clearing house..

i also tie frogs to wooden boards and send them sailing down small streams.. i pop the eyeballs out of the homeless.. i curse god to his face.

i love all the comments on my site re: my most recent of articles.
Well Randy, from the day I first went to your website (I was Congregation Secretary and CBSC) at the time, I knew then you were a giant among men.
All they know is "Where else can we go" - if he is not "one of us" he is evil apostate spawn of the devil - very sad really. That said, tehre are many wonderful JWs. They are just so sadly mislead. I remain a JW , I just have my bullshit deflectors set to maximum.
it is with great interest that i recently read ceders article on the decline of the wts.
his article along with many of the comments really drives home just how many major changes there have been in a fairly short peroid of time.. somewhere in the recent past i could swear that someone had posted a bullet list of major changes with the corresponding year.
when i saw this (or something like it) my first thought was that this simple list made it all the more shocking; and since i have searched and cannot find anything like it.. so i dug around and started one of my own, please feel free to add/corrects events.
1992 Nethinim to the Governing Body
once upon a time, there was a military commander named fabius maximus (the name sounds silly, i know, like gluteous maximus).
he faced a more powerful enemy he could not directly defeat - and so was born "the fabian strategy".. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/fabius_maximus.
it worked in the american revolution.. it worked in vietnam.
I think it is ironic (not totally sure if that is the correct word) but in the Middle Ages the printing press saw a decline in the power and prestige of the Roman Catholic Church.
I have consistently said in this forum since I joined in 2003, that the internet will prove (when history is written) to be a huge nail in the coffin (not necessarily the total demise) of the WTBTS.
It is all about control - control of information, and the Internet is all about free flow of information.
Even the WTBTS has started using it more - downloads of WTs, etc. As the OP -Metatron has pointed out - it totally has changed publishing/printing in general - so even magazines/periodicals/newspapers (even porn) are struggling. We are in a brave new world. Watch this space

Breakfast of Champions said -- Yes, I believe you are correct. Not with a bang, but a whimper.
AGREED +1
They can survive for a long time. They will have to sell real estate and live off that - but slowly -but surely - it will happen. UNLESS ------ they stop being a publishing organization -and become a construction organization- built off free/cheap labor. It may buy them another 30 years or more.
in he's nephews book i could not believe some of the things he mentions.
when his father died fred franz told his mother he could not go to the funeral because he was just too busy at bethel.
she spoke to rutherford who ordered him to go.
