  WTS Addresses Child Abuse - er, kind of...

  my wife, who is intent on re-activating herself as a dub since i da'd myself, went to the convention this past weekend.

  she showed me this new publication entitled "learn from the great teacher", and placed great emphasis on these two pages i scanned and am posting.

  it makes a poor show of telling children what to do when confronted by a child abuser.

  If they would have completely avoided the subject, then everyone would be criticizing that they didn't say anything.

  The problem isn't with the WTS not saying anything, the problem is them not doing anything.

  The truth is that the evilness in your hearts lead you to criticize everything that the Watchtower does.

  It's not the evilness that causes me to criticize the Watchtower, The Watchtower has brought that out of me with their evilness.

  It really makes me sick the way apostates think they are so much smarter than anyone else, smarter than JWs, smarter than the Governing Body

  I don't think anybody is claiming that they're more intelligent than the JWs, I think the problem is you don't enjoy discussion over Watchtower publications. Apostates have the freedom to interpret the publications, JWs don't.

  perhaps the borg should consider trying to enliven the boring old meetings by giving talks, both special needs and others, spiffy movie style titles.

  for a talk on volunteering to help out in for field service: "dude, where's your car?".

  for a chat on the latest us stats and figures: "american pie chart".

  Anyway, I'm not offended. You have your own free will to interpret this scripture. Personally, I think the word is a bird, bababa bird, bird, bird is a word.

  But on a serious note, I think that any angel is a god - they're superior beings. Satan is a god, the angels are gods, the 144,000 are men (LOL!), and God is a god. Personally, I don't know how the rankings work with superior beings, even though the book "Revelation - It's Grand Climax" tried to explain it (and did a lousy job).

  i've only learned the truth about this society over the last 5 months or so, so i'm not sure what the difference is to say - 2 years ago.

  do you think the society will now get even more cultish in it's methods of teaching and more heavy handed if they feel things are slipping?

  i don't feel i'm being over the top here because i've experienced very heavy handed talks at the assemblies and kingdom hall in the past that are just plain scare tactics but this just makes people ask more questions ??

  i cant remember much up until i was ten except the usual no birthdays, no worldly friends or bad associates.

  then it was a series of arguments of why i didnt what to go to church.

  And for all of you when you hear how things go bad for J Dubs where they leave the loving organisation, after a couple of years leaving I won a first prize in a major raffle ha ha ha (for New Zealand) and travelled the world for two years having a ball.

  I know what you mean, the ones who leave and get screwed in "the world" do so because they have no sense of self-control. However, you developed it from your childhood (as did I). Happy to hear your life is going well for you.

  Jesika & pr_capone's wedding plans -- Friday, July 11, 2003 at 7:00 p.m.

  we changed the wedding from saturday in order to give the newlyweds a chance to spend the weekend relaxing and getting settled as an official couple.

  also, by having it friday night there is a chance, a possibility, that big tex will be able to get the night off so he can give the bride away (*sniffle*).

  and there is also a chance, a possibility, that our beloved district overbeer will perform the wedding.

  Damn, That didn't take long! I'm still not getting married til next year. Anyway, I wish the both of you the absolute best in your future together. May Jehovah bless the both of you as you come together under this divine arrangement, and work together spiritually for the rest of your lives and into the new system of things.

  For as young as I am, my first concert was KISS on their reunion tour. After them, I've seen Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Honeymoon Suite (kicked ass!), Rik Emmett, Nazareth, April Wine, and the Headpins. I currently have tickets for Queen City Kids (next week) and I just heard this morning that Kim Mitchell's coming to town. I gotta get tickets!!!!

  Telling a child that "God" will protect them in times such as the situations described above IS WRONG. Telling them this implies for them that "God" will directly intervene when a sexual attack occurs.

  Magneto, I can tell you first hand that this is EXACTLY what happens. This is EXACTLY what I went through. The result? It lowered my self-esteem. It lowered my confidence. I'm still struggling with this issue today.

  But, I believe the WORST yes the WORST thing they did was advise children without consulting a therapist on exactly what and how to write that information.

  Sheila: Excellent point. A therapist would never say "some grown-ups like to have sex with children. When they do, boys and girls may start to do bad things that they have learned from these grown-ups. They also begin to use their sex organs in a wrong way."

  joe_from_kokomo: You made an excellent statement to SOJ. I can only hope he reads it.

  Wait on Jehovah?

  Even though SoJ is an utterly annoying twit, she/he makes a very good observation: whatever the Society does or prints, some "apostate" will find fault with it! They're in a "lose-lose" situation!

  This is somewhat true. However, there are many people's feathers ruffled over this book, including mine. How come nobody's attacking the new brochure like this?

  The problem is the society comes up with it's antecdotes on how to deal with life's problems according to the bible, but they discourage their members from reading "worldly" publications, or going out and getting professional "worldly" help with their problems. The problem is covered up with Watchtower publications saying "all will be perfect in paradise earth". While we're waiting for paradise earth, we need to deal with these problems NOW instead of putting them aside and letting them grow.
