I'm still here after 7 grueling years, LOL!
Not much JW stuff happening in my life right now - which is a good thing :)
i used to post here...a lot!.
just thought i'd say hello to you all...you wonderful people who got out of the jw cult!
i have come to believe that we are an amazing bunch of people - we made our way despite all the odds and fought for individuality - and won.. even today i was told that going back to the hall would solve my problems (by a jw family member) and i honestly can say that i felt amusement.

we had that question as an item in the service meeting tonight.
the answer was that we should comply immediately whether it is a police officer or just a caretaker of a block of flats who asks us to stop.
we shouldn't answer back or dispute the issue.
What happened to having faith in Jehovah that he would stand behind his people? I thought Jehovah would be proud if his people stand up when they're faced with persecution. Perhaps children should just stand up and sing with the rest of the class when the national anthem comes on, simply because they were asked to.
The WTS is becoming a shell of it's former self. They seem to be doing a slow transformation into a mainstream religion. If they got rid of disfellowshipping and started celebrating holidays, they may be able to keep more members.
i'm running vista home premium on my dell inspiron.
dell custom build to your requirements and i went for 4gb of ram from the start (almost 2 years ago).
i know vista has been much maligned but honestly, i've had no problems with it.
one other thing I should mention is WIN 7 has been optimized for SDD in the use of a drive cleaning
program called TRIM, this is what I mention before about you never have to worry about Defragging any more.
I haven't had to worry about defragging for the last 2 years since I moved to Linux. My system was one of the first that shipped pre-installed with Vista. I wiped it off and dual booted Linux with Win2K. I only use Windows for one app. Other than that, I've been a full-time Linux user. While everyone was crying about their slow unstable PCs running vista (and let's not forget about all the virus scares), I've been running the smoothest OS I've ever used.
Windows 7 may be 100% better than Vista, but you still get Windows Genuine Advantage (or whatever they call it now), many Windows-compatible viruses, the need to run Anti-virus and Anti-spyware software (which slows down your system and isn't guaranteed to catch everything), and the inevitable cost of purchasing the OS. I don't miss any of this and won't be 'upgrading' to it. Besides, Linux with Compiz still looks way better :)

And if you really want to speed up your system get one of those new Solid State drives by IBM or OCZ and you'll really see things fly,
I used a solid state drive in my garage PC, and there's a noticeable slowdown. Also, the OS I installed on it is optimized for solid state drives to minimize writes. The only thing it writes to the drive is a backup .tar file upon shutdown. Everything else is done in RAM.
Windows on solid state? That's like using a lawn mower to harvest your garden.

I'll just stick with old Linux :)
seems no matter how hard i try, it winds up all shuffled up, cd covers lost, inserts pulled out, and a pile of loose cd's because who ever is listening never puts them back.. if a few are out no problem.
right now i am working on about 300 loose cd's with run away covers.. i must be doing something wrong.. do you organize by the type of music...like classical, rock, jazz,....?
do you just do it by alpha?
I organize mine by color of the spine. It narrows them down to a general area. This way, I just chuck them into a general area. I have no patience nor time to organize them alphabetically. The ones I almost never listen to get thrown into their own general area as well (comedy CDs, interview discs, etc)
The only drawback is I'm sitting somewhere around 700 CDs. The white and black spines are the clear winners.

Wow! That thing is pretty accurate!
well, first a quick summary of who i am.
i'm 30 years old.
i was raised "in the truth" and fully embraced the faith when i was a teenager.
This is a concept known as "negging." Apparently it works wonders.
The example Elsewhere gave about 'being clumsy' was NOT a neg-hit. A neg is an insult disguised as a compliment, and should ONLY be used on women who are snobs or are stuck-up. Best one I ever used: "That's a nice wooly purse, did your grandma knit that?" It's not a direct insult, nor is it a direct compliment. It's a little bit of both.
It also should ONLY be used on an initial approach. A woman who has already opened up to you will be insulted if you neg her. There is a right time, a right place, and a right woman to use a neg-hit. If used correctly, it will get that stuck-up bitch to open up to you.

Be affectionate but do not kiss her goodnight.
Bring a sweet bouquet or a single daisy or rose.
i hold in my hand the nov. awake magazine entitled "technology - blessing or curse?"..
now, i understand the need for balance and moderation in using technology, as the magazine says - but could they come up with a more intelligent sounding title?
it makes the question sound as if abandoning technology might be a solution, a considered choice, a real possibility.
I thought the dumbest Awake title was "1914 - The Generation That Will Not Pass Away"
...or was that a Watchtower title?
