Start calling this behavior FUN and see how fast your mind follows. And I'm NOT talking about betrayal in these comments designed and intended to rattle. Betrayal is betrayal. Period.

there is a part about scriptural divorce and even if adultery is not proved if your ex stayed all night or is involved in an immoral sleeping arrangement you can get scriptural grounds to remarry.. .
they make a rule, then they have to make a rule for the rule, make another rule for the rule for the rule.

Since you are obviously associated with the JW world (one toe in one and 4/5 feet out it seems), you likely have to tiptoe around the loaded WT language. I understand that, especially with the audiience you describe. Otherwise, I would tell everyone to leave behind the WT specific language ASAP. As I have mentioned many times, I do not and will not use WT specific language, as it was designed to control mindless people or make mindful people mindless.
I don't even use the TTATT acronym. There isn't anything about the WT that is 'the truth.' Change your language people; change the adjectives you use to describe behaviors and lifestyles that the WT or your upbringing attached with pejorative or denigrating labels and you will be amazed at how fast your mind/behavior follows.

by confusedandalone inor should i say some things.... reading over another thread and a number of other threads i have to ask, why are we making excuses for jesus / god.. how can you fathom and all powerful god who created the universe and all the laws that govern it was not capable of:.
1. making sure the proper pronunciation of his name is not available.
2. that all his teaching are not preserved in an easy to discern manner so that ther is no confusion.

Life IS much better and it isn't even close. The alarmists among us have their own agenda, whether its the JWs or others. Does the world have issues of concern, including climate change and economic parity? Of course. But the world had MUCH bigger problems in 1914, for example, and we are soooooo much better off as a species, even considering weathering the atomic age. My point is there is no reason to believe humans won't learn/tach in the wind/make improvements to improve life in a commensurate manner the next century.
This video states what many on this forum have been saying repeatedly. And once we rely on such pesky (to theists) things call FACTS, we lose the henny penny sky is falling mentality. Life becomes much better post JW when you reach this point.

Great OP. And you state a very clear and rational argument as to the unlikelihood of the existence of a god/gods. James Jackson and Kate, I am working on both of your official atheist certificates. Kate wants a pink border around her certificate; James, which color do you wish for yours? Resistance is futile; you will be assimilated (unless you completely stop thinking and return to the cave from which you have escaped).
So Kate, you discount the bible because you feel it was written to control. I would agree; some of that control was probably very necessary to hammer out a civilization beyond the cave, tribe and clan, just as laws are necessary for social order (but lawyers, those desiring to oppressivel or needlessly to control others take law making to the extreme). Some of it was not. That's men for you. It will likely always be such, at least until we quit relying on imaginary creatures to make us behave and begin improving our DNA, which has great capacity for improving our pathetic human condition. But we won't get there until we truly believe we are big enough, strong enough and doggonit people like us and stop relying on a variety of imaginary creatures.

What I would do is shut the entire religion down. But assuming I was going to play along: Stop disfellowshipping. End the blood fiasco. Quit being pharisees and making 'rules' 'near-rules' 'rules-light' 'wanna be rules' 'mini-me rules' 'semi-rules' about everythign freaking thing. Leave people along and let them use their CONSCIENCE. Stop counting time. Start being the loving christian church you are supposed to be. Stop 'marking' people and acting like everyone not turning in loads of 'time' is 'spiritually weak' (I effing hate that phrase).

Cofty, I see you the Reverend Tammy are still at it. You are a better man than I. She doesn't deserve it, but at least this is a topic down her alley. As I see Jesus' teachings, everything he said or taught that could be considered 'good' was said or written years or centuries earlier by others. But he said and taught a lot of things that have caused misery, death, wars, genocide and the destruction of families.
So I would have to say that he has caused far far more harm than good.
