Does God exist outside of Time?

"Time stops if you reach the speed of light."

Is that true or can something catch up to the speed of time, making it seem like time stops? Maybe the speed of time and the speed of light are the same. I don't think anyone knows what happens when something travels faster than the speed of light because it has not been observed. I think what would happen if it were possible is that the object would exist in multiple places at the same time. I do not think our eyes can see true light; only the lower spectrum of it. I think if we were able to see true light, we would be able to see God as he really is. I don't know how to explain this thought so it would make sense but I think light is the barrier between man and God which was caused by sin or mankind's decision to serve himself rather than serve God.

As to the question does God exist outside of time? I do not believe so. I think God is time. I think God is light. There are many names for God in the Bible because any one of them could not be accurate. If God is omnipresent, he must by definition exist in every place at every time. So as we are moving through time, in a sense we are moving through God. As we move through the past, God is still there. As we come to the future, God is still there. I guess what I am saying is God is infinity. The problem with this is the question "is this desk God"? I don't think you can call this desk God but I think God exists in the atoms of this desk.

I guess that is enough craziness for one day.

That was part of the original post of this thread. I will try to stick to biblical or non biblical evidence that Jesus Christ in fact rose from the dead.

Can we agree that it would be easier for a person to rise from the dead than to create life if in fact the same person that created life rose from the dead? There seems to be people with the belief that the resurrection could not have happened because it is a supernatural event. Could we also say that the universe and everything in it got here by a supernatural event? I think that the resurrection of a body that has been dead for three days is less extraordinary than the beginnings of this universe. Christianity supposes that the creator of the universe dwelt in a being that he created. Is this plausible? I think so. If the creator can create life, why would it be hard for him to restore a life that already was? Have I established that the resurrection of a life is possible?

I see where my quote can be taken the wrong way; let me clarify.

When there have been disagreements between secular history and biblical history, when there has been conclusive archaeological evidence, it has come down on the side of the Bible every single time.

Francois, I changed the topic to refute the argument that discussing proof of the resurrection is moot. I'm sorry but I didn't see any other way to refute the argument. I guess I should have just accepted your point thereby ending the thread.

Apocryphal Books of the Bible

If my understanding is correct, the Roman Catholic Bible did not include the Apocryphal books until after the meeting of the hierarchy at what we know as The Council Of Trent. The beliefs and doctrines of the “official” church stated that Mary remained a virgin, (contradicting Matthew and others) that Mary was worthy of worship, purgatory, etc.

Martin Luther posted his 95 Thesis on the Wittenberg Door stating that these beliefs and others were essentially wrong thereby starting the Protestant Reformation. The Roman Church had to justify these beliefs so in haste they included the Apocrypha into the biblical canon. These books were not included previously because of the obvious contradictions to the other books that were deemed more reliable. I understand that the writer of one of the Maccabees for example got so many historical facts wrong that he seemed confused as to the history he wrote about. I have not read these books so maybe someone can tell me if the doctrines above are in fact in the Apocryphal books.

How could archaelogical evidence PROVE babied werent murdered?.......dig up the graves of all the dead at that time and see if there was a bunch of babies buried there? How on earth could archaeology prove something didn't happen? What you just said was ridiculous!

Archaeological evidence has never been able to prove that an event documented in the (protestant) Bible did not happen. When there have been disagreements between secular history and biblical history, conclusive archaeological evidence has come down on the side of the Bible every single time. If an archaeological dig brings out a decree that says something to the affect of "all babies under 6 months shall be killed" at the time of Christ's birth, that will prove that Matthew was wrong and a liar because he said "two years." The writers of scripture have always taken great care to make sure what they have written was true and archaeology has proven this.

rem, the casket writings are just added evidence. When we put all the evidence together, we have proof.

If writings like that, on a tomb/coffin is evidence that someone existed then the other 5 I mentioned existed and that is the evidence

Jesus lived and had the written works of many eyewitnesses to prove it. If you do not believe the written testimonies of Luke, Paul, Peter, James, John, Matthew, and Mark, I cannot help that. The extra evidence of the casket is icing but if you don't believe the main evidence, than I guess you won't believe the rest no matter how much there is.

Francois; Jesus prophesied numerous times that he was going to die and then rise from the dead.

If Jesus did not rise from the dead, then The Master would not be worthy of worship because he would have proven to be a false prophet.

Gumby, The fact that secular writers do not record an event does not falsify the event. When archaeoligical evidence proves that the genocide recorded in Matthew did not happen, then I'll believe it.

how does that show he even existed, much less resurected?

Why would someone write "Jesus, let him who rests here arise." if there wasn't a person whos name is Jesus that rose from the dead? It seems to me that he knew the teachings of what we call the New Testament so he hoped Jesus would raise him from the dead like he promised. There is more written about this man Jesus than any other person of the first century and it is not satisfactory to you that this man even existed. Did Pilate exist? If I say he didn't I have less to explain away.

Have you heard of the achaelogical evidence of the ancient caskets in Jerusalem? One translated into English says "Jesus Help!" and another says "Jesus, let him who rests here arise." I got this info from the same book I used previously.

I am not an ex JW. I am what people would consider a born-again fundamentalist. I agree with you about the Mercedes but I have a story to relate. The reason I agree that pastors (and laypeople) should not drive around in fancy cars and live lavish lifestyles is the stumbling block issue. I am quoting from memory but Jesus said "it is inevitable that stumbling blocks will come but woe to the man by which they come." Question: Would you have stayed longer and possibly come back if the pastor was driving an old pick-up truck instead of the Mercedes? According to Jesus' teaching, that man could be in trouble come judgement day.

Now the story. The pastor and his wife who retired last year served as a missionary to Africa for many years. I forget where exactly but he sure had some stories to tell. Anyway, he drove a Lincoln Town Car which was fairly new because he had a friend from college that owned a garage and got him the car for about 5 grand. He was about 60 and you can't get a decent car for much less than that anyway. He related this story from the pulpit about how he got the car. You couldn't keep this man from taking out the trash or climbing up ladders etc. (Well we made him agree not to climb ladders so he kept his word.) I had a discussion about the car especially from a visitors viewpoint about appearances but after serving so much time in the bush, I could see how one could say he should be able to drive a nice car. I'm not saying that a majority of pastors are like this man is but you can't always judge a book by its cover.
