ThiChi I wanted to add that in the article that I read (Maybe Wall Street Journal) the man shot also had a knife (sheathed) under his shirt. And (like you) I also read that he was trying to get the officers gun. He was shot by the other officer. As I read it, the argument is that if you say to the cops that you don't want to talk then they HAVE to leave you alone. Pleading the 5th means that you have the right to stay silent. I have not read where that means that the cops have to be silent. And the argument was over if medical care was being withheld and the anwer is again no. The cops left when told so by medical staff at the hospital. If this guy was minding his own business and got pissed at the cops and got paralized and blinded for being in the wrong place that is just wrong.Was his 5th (civil rights) violated we will see. But in my ordinary uneducated American citizen opinion, nope.

Here is a tip fighting with the cops is always a bad idea. Going for their gun that is suicide.

I guess some people will have to go back to the drawing board to sling mud at President Bush this one is not going to stick. I do not think that we are in a police state nor do I think that is what his intent is.

i was very happy to find this one while i was doing my research finding out the truth about the religion & just trying to heal from such a damaging religion.

i was raised in it from birth by a devout witness mother.

I hope you find what you are looking for. Be true to your self. Then you can be true to others. Look for the little envelopes without the little blue locks on them. You can Email them directly if you want to. As long as yours is locked people can not Email you directly.

There are all kinds of people here. This site can be quite addictive. For so long there has been no one to talk about all of it. If we said what we felt or knew then there was retribution. Here we can vent what we have carried for so long, for some of us a lifetime.

He was legally elected to office by the people of Iraq. 100% of the votes were to him. Therefore he must be legit and America only sees a small oil source to exploit. That's it.

Islamic rule that support terrorists and all terrorists should be afraid. They wanted attention. Now they have it. I think that the free world has ignored the garbage world for too long. Now it is time to kick some ass and not play games. This has been going on for over a decade lets get it over. Then turn to Bono's plan because his way will work. "Clean drinking water for all." (For a start)

When I was in Vegas last year my wife and I found a book on what dreams mean. (I can't remember the name. Hope I'm not developing dementia.)

I do remember we both looked up our recurring characters in dreams.

Mine was skulls. Every dream I ever had there was a skull/skeleton looking at me. And I was always searching for something in a blue hazy like sunset of colors. Not day or night but like dusk. And, everyone was dressed in a cloak. In the book it said that a skull was a searching for the meaning of life. Since I have begun to read spiritual books (NO Wt's) and focus on what I think and feel and not what the Jehovah's that were in my life want me to argue about the people in my dreams still have cloaks but they are no longer hooded. And no skulls. Sometimes in my dreams we are on a hillside and we are just talking. (Never can recall what) I can't remember the last dream I had that was bad.

My wife used to have horrid spider dreams. I mean waking up screaming and tearing at the sheets. I stopped sleeping in the bed if she had them because it would go on for nights. Spiders attacking you according to the book were character representations of your mother who you see as trying to control you and your life. (Which is right on. Her mother is a bitch of a demon if there ever was one.)

If I remember I think that a tiger character represents your past or something in it. But I am not sure so don't quote that one. I will try and find out what the heck the name of it was. It was really cool reference book to read.

NEW TO YOU ALL...MY STORY

i was born into the witnesses in 1962, i was disfellowshiped when i was 18, because i decided to marry a catholic.

our first son was born 4 years later, and thinking i had to teach our son about god, which in it self is not a bad thought, so the only thing i new was the jw's teaching's, and yes i went back.. it took them 11 months to decide weather they would reinstate me, 11 month's of no one talking to me, no one coming to see my new baby, allways leaving befor the meeting was completely over, so as not to feel any more hurt then nessecary.

after i was reinstated i proceeded to raise our 3 children as jw's.

I for one do not feel abandoned and I hope that you don't. Rain falls from the sky down on all of us. That's life.

How are your children. Have they been able to maintain a relationship with their Father?

I am not afraid of going it alone either. If there is not "God" that's ok. As I say often "faith" is stronger anyway. "Have faith to believe. Don't believe to have faith." (Can't remeber who said that)

I would love to say to the Jehovahla Witnesses at my door that they need to do alot more less talkin and alot more of shut the hell up! (Poor English on purpose)

When I deal with those who put America down or our current President as they will never change...

"I guess the only solution is to vote for Gore." That is what they want to hear.

Think of where the world would be if the USA did mind it's own business. Europe has no right to bitch. You guys owe us big time.

I really am becoming "The Angry American" (Toby Keith) and I will expain why a little later on my own thread.

The UN is in agreement with the current policy and France wants the Oil rights; Russia wants assurance of Debt payments and continued sale of their own oil. Both are not unreasonable concerns BTW.

I love hearing people from the Middle East or where ever wanting to get into this country for jobs and education or just the hell out of the craphole they were born into, all the while running their mouth about how bad it sucks over here. Can you say hippojerkocrite?

society doesn't care about how outsiders view them.

they don't care about how the rank and file look at them.they don't give any credence to congregational elders or ministerial servants or pioneers.

I hope you are not hurting.

Like all abusers they care about the abuse continuing. People like me are a real threat to that power base. I know that Witnesses do not think that they are being exploited or controlled. But you say that you were an Elder. What did you think of people who took contol of thier own destiny. What did you say about them, to them directly and behind their backs?

There is nothing wrong with taking your penis back. Now go to your local Kingdom Hall and tell the Elders to give you back your penis. (Credit to Fish?)

Once they have no power over you or any of your kin no they will no longer recognize you. You have become a clear and present danger to their power base. You are a light to others that are in darkness. Don't hide it.

Looking for a book for my family

i have been looking for a book to send to my biological family.

so far most have been about someone who was abused and therefore drawn to the organization and later disillusioned.

i am was a third generation jw, which means that even my parents were born into it and is all they really know.

Upset

Once you say things you can not take them back. Words hurt like daggers. I wish that people could think before they speak. I sometimes wonder if we started thinking before we spoke if relationships would have less scars.

Also it is often the cold hearts on the outside that make the borg seem inviting. Some controling attention is better than no attention. Even if you know that it is wrong. At least you are worthy of being controled.

Viv. I am still sorry for your Dad. Even if he never says it some men (as I am one) are to stupid to say they are sorry. I think it is a genetic flaw.
