Now that was funny!
Thanks for the laugh!

jack wakes up with a huge hangover after the night at a business function.
he forces himself to open his eyes and the first thing he sees is a couple of aspirins next to a glass of water on the side table.
and, next to them, a single red rose!
Now that was funny!
Thanks for the laugh!

when doing the 'preaching work' did you consider things such as '1975', 'this generation', the work that will be completed 'in the twentieth century', organ transplants, etc........yet marginalise discussion of this or anything else you grouped as "old light".
basically did you avoid discussion of or mentioning anything you knew was bunkum, while still preaching the wts ?.
.
I was fully blinded by all that new light and didn't realise that any of it was "bunkum" until after I was out. I tried to avoid deeper subjects because I was never very good a memorising scriptures and prefered to stick to a topic that only needed one or two..
Misty.. who loved her "reasoning" book
i couldn't find if this was a previous topic, so i apologize in advance if it has been posted.. i am 28 years old, i have been df'd for 7-8 of those.
my parents were converted when i was 2 years old by the whole family on my mother's side.
however, about 5-10 years into it, all of that side of the family were df'd or da'd because they wanted to have sex with multiple people or smoke, drink, gamble, cuss, or whatever else they wanted.
kpappl... It's my understanding that the notes on these types of meetings are destroyed when it's all said and done. There is some concern over files being siezed by outside sources due to pedaphile cases... and I'm not sure of all of my facts, but I think elder bodies were instructed to destroy files.
I sure hope so, it's embarrasing to remember, let alone to think of somebody rereading the notes

in 2002, dr. barbara frale found a copy of the parchment in the vatican secret archives.
frale has published her discovery about the chinon parchment in the journal of medieval history and wrote a book in italian on the subject in 2004. the document sheds some new light on the knight templars.
here is a link to check it out...........http://www.inrebus.com/chinon.html
When diligently questioned regarding the sin of sodomy, the worshipped head, about the practice of kissing and other things for which the brothers of the said order received a bad reputation, he said that he knew nothing
Is this maybe where the elders got their format for JC's?
Interesting read, thanks for the link.

hi all.. just wondering..... jw's state the the reasons for not celebrating birthdays, anniversaries etc is that it takes the focus off jehovah and onto another person/s for that day.. my question: is he so selfish as to not allow each person to celebrate their own special days?.
also, does the wtbs allow anything that is remotely considered 'fun' to be celebrated?
(other than assemblies, meetings etc, like they were ever fun!
Fun? I don't think that's allowed. Even wt articles describing "get-togethers" sound boring. I was raised a dub... didn't have much fun. I hated the stupid "bible games" we were allowed to play at kiddie partys, I always felt like everyone could see that I didn't know as much as I should and I felt like an idiot. No fun there.
Misty
ps.. havin some fun now, though
the wt website now has an article on burning incense.
yes - pretty soon i'm sure they'll be telling you how to trim your toenails.
i'm surprised that they still allow dancing at weddings actually, since we know that dancing was so paganistic and led to wild, animalistic sex.
What if I break my incence into fractions? Can I then burn the fractions? or would it still be wrong?

just wondering if anyone still does not celebrate xmas since leaving jws.....or like me do you think"to hell with it", and join in the festivities.
if you do celebrate it, do you still have pangs of guilt for celebrating this "pagan" festival???.
chukky.
We do. I'm like a little kid when I decorate the tree We don't do the whole go shopping thing, though. We buy each other a couple of nice things.. usually order em online, and have a nice dinner on x-mas day. It's not a religious thing for us, it's just something fun. and the lights are pretty

was leaving the watchtower society the best decision of your life?
the benefits have been so great, my peace of mind has been great--better than i thought i would feel on the "other side.
" after deprogramming my mind from the cult mindset everything seems clearer, brighter.
Definatly the best decision.
Second best was laser eye surgery

for all the years you were in the borg, i was wondering how many of you received a friendly shepherding call from the elders?
.
that was part of their responsibility as elders but in over 30 years i never received one and i found that was the case with many in the cong.. did you regularly receive a visit?
When my husband (ex) and I were going through a "rough patch" that led to our splitting and eventual divorce I went to the elders and ASKED for a sheperding call.. they told me they couldn't do it unless my husband asked first??? I know I was supposed to be submisive and all, but I didn't ask that they come over and whoop his butt, I asked if they could come over and talk to both of us and help us with our marriage (this was in 2000, btw)
Never did get that visit, never went to another meeting, either, though it wasn't really a conscious decision at the time. Some months later I got a call from one of those elders (phone call at work!) and I thought "uhoh, here we go" but he just had a few questions about my ex (there were rumors he had been seen wearing lipstick and mascara.. which may have been true, he's gay) after I responded to his questions he didn't ask how I was doing or anything, just thanked me and hung up.

im surprised i havent posted anything like this before.
i believe im jinxed.
everything i touch turns to crap.
YES!! My husband is a weather jinx! Only he has the exact opposite effect. He is from Alaska, so he loves the snow, he likes rain second best. Wherever we go they have beautiful sunny weather.. Neither of us like the heat, so it's almost always "unseasonly warm" whenever we visit. We lived in central oregon for awhile (high desert) it was so dry it drove us nuts.. we took most of our vacations on the coast so we could get some rain, but it was always dry when we went. My inlaws get sick of the rain where they are at.. so they invite us to come visit a lot When he moved back to Alaska in 95 they had a very mild winter... and continued to have mild winters until he left.
It may not be as dramatic as your chaos effect, but it's still a little weird to know that where ever I take him the weather will clear up.
