I've always thought God was a man since he said "Lets make man in our image" when he created Adam. He then made the woman to help him, but didn't say "Lets make a woman to our image". I've never studied this though, I have a lot to learn.

God's Appearances in the Old Testament
by hooberus in"and the lord appeared unto him in the plains of mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; and he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, and said, my lord, if now i have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, i pray thee, from thy servant: let a little water, i pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:" genesis 18:1-4. comment: the lord (hebrew yhwh) appeared in the form of a man with feet to abraham.. .
and upon the nobles of the children of israel he laid not his hand: also they saw god, and did eat and drink.
" exodus 24:9-11 .

Good Master
by ClassAvenger inthey asked me why in mark 10:17-18 did jesus did not accept the adjetive "good master" and said "there is none good but one, that is god".
he knows i believe in the trinity and said that if jesus was god, how come he didn't accept this simple adjetive?
he also asked me why if jesus is god and is called the "firstborn" in many verses in the bible such as colossians 1:15, 16, isn't this adjetive applied to the father or the holy spirit, since we believe that firstborn here means having greater rank, preeminence.

I see this was a pretty hard question for some people to answer.

Resurrection of Sodoma
by ClassAvenger ini am going to be sharing with a jw and i want to bring up the doctrine of the resurrection of the people of sodoma.
i have heard that the watchtower has contradicted itself by changing this doctrine several times, and in one of the books they say that the "new light" can never contradict the past doctrine, but only build on it i think.
well, post whatever information you guys have on this topic.

So, if you give them one big hit at a time, they'll shut themselves down? I should rethink on how I present information to them. Thanks for the comment.

Again, as in past posts, I am a Christian and I don't want to turn this into a Trinity thread, please only answer Trinitarians or from a Trinitarian point of view. Thanks everyone!

Heaven
by ClassAvenger ini was talking with a jw friend and he said that they believed they would live here on earth forever.
he told me a verse in psalms were it says "...the meek will inherit the earth.
" for those who believe in heaven, what does this verse mean?

Lol, Gumby. Anyways, somewhere in the thread I read someone questioned "where is heaven?". According to my theory, it is outside of the universe where time nor space exist. That's right guys, i'm going to be a true Bible scholar. - CA

ellderwho: I told this person some time ago about the whole worshipping Christ thing and he said that it was a different type of worship. I'll make a post about this maybe later on...
mizpah: I don't really know what to say to the restoration of earth with humans living here, I haven't studied the Bible much. I have a lot of catching up to do.
Thanks guys.

Destiny
by shotgun inwhat are your thoughts.. if god forewarned cain to change his path he must have known abel was in danger...why did he not warn abel?.
when jesus told his apostles to go into jeruselam and bring back an ass and its colt which would be tied up near the gate did he foreknow this or was his faith so strong that he knew according to the scriptures this would take place and god would make this happen as written.
the same for the fish with the coin in its mouth did he foreknow this or was it his faith in god that let him know that anything he asked would be accomplished.. what i'm getting at is...if for thousands of years the issue of gods right to rule has been played out on the earth how is it a real test if god decides to now and then manouver particular events to a phrophesied outcome.

God's thoughts and way of thinking is infinitely higher in level than ours. Maybe what we call reasonable, for Him its unreasonable, or what we call logical for Him it is illogical. Lol, ok, forget about what I said.

What is our eternal purpose? I believe it's worshipping God forever (I think I read that somewhere), unlike the JWs who think they will live here in Earth and everything will be perfect, and they will be able to marry and their neighbors will be good people. I dont think in heaven we are going to marry or something, anyways, what is our eternal purpose? Worship Him forever or live a life in happiness?
