  Secret "codes" that the W.T. use for their publications?

  hi, i haven't been on here for a really long time and stopped researching, however, i am starting to get back into it again.. so with that said, i have a question.... when i looked up a word phrase i wanted to find in an old 2004 w.t.

  library cd, it came up with a code of "ts" at the bottom of the printout that i printed.

  Did you feel pushed into pioneering?

  so i have been replying to letters from a jw friend who suddenly started writing to me after i've been out for nearly 25 years.. i have mentioned things like the poverty that pioneering causes from my own experience, worrying about having enough money to buy food.. i also said that the scrimping would have been worth it if we had been saving to buy a home or go on lovely holidays.. instead we ended up with nothing materially and we were living in a tiny rented flat when we left.. when i think of all the places i wanted to visit with my husband but couldn't because we were pioneering and had no money and now it is too late because my husband has died at the age of 54. we did get to visit some beautiful places but we ran out of time.. what i was trying to say to her was - life's too short.

  stop waiting for the new system, get on with your life.

  stop exhausting yourself in that religion.

  Though you may love your JW friend from way back, please be careful about getting too involved - you have a new life now & shouldn't let all that JW negativity continue to upset you. Your friend's responses are carefully in line with what the elders/GB would have her say. She may have genuine affection for you & the friendship you both once shared, but remember she is supposed to try to get you back in to the cult & will do and say anything for this to occur.

  What Is The Most Absurd JW Belief or View?

  there are many silly doctines and viewpoints.. one of the strangest ones is the blood doctrine.. why anyone could logically accept this belief is beyond reason..

  My brothers and I weren't allowed the stick-on tattoos either!

  Also as a child I remember we could only have Easter Eggs the day after Easter, & then only if our mother had smashed them up first with the meat-tenderiser. (???!!!)

  Your views and ideas on forum areas and organization?

  this may come as a shock to some people, but the current forum structure was kind of thrown together without much real thought and then evolved a bit over time.

  there are a few things that particularly grate on me and areas where i don't think the subjects work particularly well.

  'friends' is a bit vague and becomes a dumping ground, news & world events vs politics & current affairs is hard to decide sometimes, child abuse is a scandal but isn't contained withing 'scandals & coverups' etc.... with a new forum platform imminent, it's a good time to solicit ideas to improve things.

  I watched Catholic Cardinal Pell being interviewed (he wasn't exactly dripping with humility) live on television last month by the Victorian Parliamentary Committee; it would be a broadcast not to miss should the elders responsible for covering up child sexual abuse appear in the hot seat too, for everyone to see.

  Literature Display Stands... Turning JWs into stationary targets...

  because of the membership retention issues that seem to continue getting worse, the watchtower corporation appears to be running out of ideas.

  in the past, when the numbers have dropped (membership, fs hours, rag placements, money, etc.

  ) they always came up with a "hook" that would give them a boost until the next drop in numbers (i.e.

  There were JWs at my local markets the other week sitting behind a stall full of WTS literature. I tried to upload a photo of them (faces cut out) but I can't do it.

  They both looked miserable & didn't smile for the camera.

  hi folks.

  it's just a mind-boggling amount of money, and useful information to have handy when talking to witness relatives.

  Thanks for sharing this information. We know the WTS insist they need r&f donations plus proceeds from sold WTS properties for a more effective spreading of an urgent JW message until the big A - the more money they make, the more worldly people they can save in the short time left. So their effective propaganda expounds.

  I often wonder, how long exactly is the amount of preaching time the GB profess all their millions are making provision for - before they see it as unseemly, or potentially unseemly, to the r&f and the rest of the world? One year? Five? Twenty?

  When I was a child my father started out his career selling life insurance. He got a bad reputation among his fellow-Witnesses for not having enough faith that the end was nigh. How could he dare sell something as future-orientated as life insurance?!! It wasn't disfellowshippable, (I think I just created a word!) but his career choice was certainly a scandal.

  I and many, many others couldn't finish high school or go to college due to the end of the world being a hair's breadth away, thousands of couples forwent having children, millions obeyed GB teachings not to invest for their retirement years - we all know the list goes on. And yet - here we have, (not forgetting the hedge funds ofcourse) - yet more evidence of the GB's disbelief in their own restrictive rhetoric regarding time left on this planet as we know it and how to view finances.

  There's only so many millions one can spend saving a morass of doomed people in a limited amount of time. The remaining millions are needed for reasons entirely other than a short-term world-wide ministry. It's all so blatantly rapacious and hypocritical.

  hey everyone.

  so i left the old company behind, the one that wasn't paying me.

  they still owe me a little bit of money but have them on record and signed documentation that i'll receive payment by the close of this month.
