Jeffro it really does `suggest` a few things about consciousness. Roger Penrose being one of the most famous physicists in the world who collaborated with with Steven Hawking in his career has written on what he thinks the evidence suggests, and that is most certainly a link. To say it doesn’t even suggest a thing about it is to be ignorant of those better and more able then either of us in the relevant fields of expertise. It would be rational to take that on board.

Sorry the font is what I type in. I hope this looks better after I adjust it.
In reply though Jeffro, magic if indistinguishable from technology to a primitive culture looking in on an advanced one is the case, then magic is also a code word for things we don’t yet understand. What is required to understand all things has not been unarguable demonstrated to be science alone, for if the scientific method presupposes rational understanding as one of its minimal criteria, it fails in some instances. For instance an observer in some quantum mechanical experiments has been shown to affect the things being observed or measured, despite there being no known or detectible physical connection between the two things. Speed and location on the quantum level has also been shown to be connected in ways that don’t make sense rationally. Magic indeed!

How do we know Satan was evil?
by truthhurts13 ini believe a good judge would have to hear both sides of the story before making a final judgment.
however, i don't ever recall hearing satan's side of the story in the bible.
i remember only 3rd party hearsay evidence (which is not evidence).

As a Christian, my reading of the bible suggests Satan doesn’t exist as a spirit entity but rather a description of a person or group of people who accuse, test or lie and deceive intentionally or unintentionally. By extension the term also gets used to describe the inner personality that listens to, or it attracted to such things as lies and deceptions with all it brings, including death or murder, or the desire to do such.

There is a common denominator with all these accounts; mind, consciousness and belief. Whether one believes any of these accounts or not, the nature of the energy that become particles and how the movement of such particles result in agency in the brain and the ability to experience and also affect what is experienced, should at least give even the most seasoned sceptic some pause at least about the real nature of reality. Whatever it is beyond simple science, mind, consciousness and belief have some connection to it.

Does faith excuse serious problems with the bible?
by iCeltic ini constantly read that having faith is the answer to knowing that god (or in most cases, jesus) exists.
but to me it's quite clear there are serious difficulties in believing the bible.. adam and eve.

Ok, and without sounding patronising or hopefully not, spiritually or religion is not for everyone. Some people are good at loving others without any of that and I have a feeling they will be ok. I wish you and your kids all the luck in the world. I should add that I have the view that God does step in during the dying process for kids when they die.

I still believe in God so I wouldn’t give up searching. I hope I haven’t damaged your hope because we all need that.

Wouldn't it just makes sense for GOD to...
by confusedandalone injust one day perform some form of miracle in front of the entire earth in which he proves he exists???.
wouldn't this be the most loving and sensible thing to do?
for instance, this coming thursday god repeatedly strikes mount kilamanjaro to the point that it reads in hebrew, "god exists, i just did this.

The bible is a book written by men and so it is going to have all sorts of problems with it, but it doesn’t mean it doesn’t have good stuff in it as well. So it is not really Gods book but it may contain things in it that God did that was recorded, albeit not always perfectly, so one has to be very cautious and engage the brain. Certainly it shouldn’t be set up on high as many do, nor binned either. For verifications one has to go outside of the bible, which is why the bible isn’t essential but rather, helpful. So it is not a case of one’s own thoughts by that token either because forms of verification are needed.

Well one doesn’t need the bible so yea. It can help though so perhaps it needs to be read before being chucked into a fire.
