They never thought they woud die
by Dawn ini was over visiting my mom this week and i was suprised at some of her comments.
she would usually say things like "this system can't last much longer" and point to world events she was certain marked the beginning of the end.
she and my father became jw's in the 50's, were convinced armageddon was near, lived through the hoopla of the 75 fiasco.

All JWs better get used to feeling that way. They are all going to die in this world like everyone else. The WT will go on preaching that the end is near and conditioning people that they may never die at all. The WT relies on this gimic and will go on using it no matter how obvious it is that death is unavoidable because if the WT publicly recanted their "end is near" doctrine, the sense of "urgency" would be lost and many people would bail out of the religion.
Dawn,
The reason many JWs hang on to their beliefs even after most of the family and friends die off is because they still cling to the WT resurrection doctrine. That is their last hope. The cure all belief.

Kwin,
The chairman and p.o. were too arrogant to make your UNdisfellowshipping announcement. So they had some patsy do it.
Who was on your appeal committee? It is supposed to be a different set of elders (more experienced elders) chosen by the c.o.

'Questions from Readers'--made up?
by rebel8 inthis thread got me thinking:
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/98014/reply.ashx
it be wrong for a christian to use wind chimes in his or her home?

The WT tampers with the "Questions from Readers" because all of the questions are written with proper grammer and in perfect JW lingo, just like the questions in the WT study articles.
When most people send questions to the WT their questions are more complicated and not worded that way.

Tetra,
Two questions about the psycholgical experience of your first apostate vacation...
Did you think about Jehovah at all when you saw all those beautiful creations of his?
Weren't you afraid that Jehovah sent that big brown she-bear to devour you... you 'disrespectful apostate' you?

WTS Emergency Meeting
by doinmypart inthe disaster relief committee at patterson organized 3 meetings this past memorial day, monday september 5, 2005. the meetings were held in lake charles, louisiana; bossier city, louisiana; and ball, louisiana.
over 1,200 elders were in attendance from louisiana, missouri, arkansas, and texas.
i took horrible notes, but want to share a few things.. the elder opening the meeting emphasized the importance of confidentiality.

Since when have elders kept confidentiality? A judicial committee of 3 elders cannot keep confidentiality. So 1,200 elders will NOT keep confidentiality. The WT knows that. And for the WT to put a confidentiality order on helping hurricane refugees is suspicious.
If the WT wants to keep this secret, just think of the REAL secrets they hide.

WT nominates 'John Roberts'

Isn't the WT appointing those middle aged men to the Governing Body as off-beam as nominating the young John Roberts to the Superior Court? The purpose of such appointments is clear. The higher powers want to ensure the longetivity of their agenda.
Here is an interesting quote:
Bush and Senate Republicans are pushing to confirm Roberts before the new court session that begins Oct. 3. Democrats cautioned against a rush to judgment now that Roberts is a candidate for chief justice and at age 50, could shape the court for decades.
"I would hope all senators, Republicans and Democrats, would ask very substantive questions because this is, after all, a lifetime position," said Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee.http://msnbc.msn.com/ID/9209570
The WT is onboard with the rest.It is not a decision made by "holy spirit" it is a calculated business decision. They want to 'shape their organization for decades' by appointing their younger proteges to lifetime positions... Because they know their "urgent message" is bogus and that "this old system of things" is going to be around for a long time, with no end in sight.
