What is the point of praying?
by hoggieman inhi, i dont post here too often, but i was reading the other post about why bad things happen, and i am curious for everyones thoughts on this: i have recently left about 9 months ago.
at first i thought i was closer to god and was reading the bible more than ever.... praying asking for help, clarity, etc.....but after a while i started to ask myself why would god answer my messily little prayers when hundreds of thousands were dieing in haiti?
the witness mindset that i remember was not to pray for things to happen, but for strength for yourself to do something.

Praying is about "communication", God does listen.
I pray everyday, especially for my wife and to this day she is still here with me as well as for her kids and grandkids.
You don't need a special forumla to pray to God, in fact, you can talk to him the same as you would talk to a person next to you.

Ray Franz has had a stroke
by coffee_black injust setting the record straight.
there is another thread that notes a claim on wiki that said that ray has died.. he had a stroke yesterday, and is in the hospital.
he is still alive.

Just picked this up from FB and just wanted to say how sorry this happened. I hope Ray has peace and I will be praying for his wife in this very difficult loss.

I really hate Hollywood sometimes, especially in their treatment of Child Stars. When they grow out of their "cuteness", the networks just dump them like they're trash.
Some, very few, survive past the Child Star stereotypes, but not all are so lucky.

Dana Plato's son also committed suicide this month as well, on May 6th... 11 years after her death....

Todd Bridges is the last surviving member of the Diff'rent Strokes cast. What I am worried about is how Gary's death will have an effect on him, especially after Dana's death.
A man can only handle so much depression and death in one's lifetime.
