Probably, it may be known for the title "Ultraman Great, Towards the Future" overseas.

When I was a child living in Cleveland, Ohio, this show would come on. I loved this show!

I thought that foreigners might not know "Ultraman."

Well, furthermore, a hero "Masked Rider/ Kamen Rider" is also in Japan.
Do you also know that hero?

In the United States, how widely he/Ultraman is known? (Is his name recognition high or low?)

Ultraman used to irritate me to no end! I hated dubbed programs, especially when they were written so lame. I know it was for kids but I was a kid then and it was so cheap looking I would turn the channel. I feel the same way about Anime now. I know its sacriligeous and I don't care. Ugh.

I watched Ultraman all the time as a kid on TV. And of course Gojira and Mothra and Gamera. And any other kind of tokusatsu TV. And Astroboy (Mighty Atom). As well as Kimba the white lion (hence my nickname Leo and Lyre). Plus lots of other Japanese TV which I had to read the subtitles to watch.

That was all in the '70s and early '80s. Then in the '90s came the doramas. One of my favorite shows of all time was Ienakiko (with Yumi Adachi), which was subtitled and aired as "Angry Innocence". I have been searching for DVDs or CDs of that show for years and years.

Leo and Possible, I also enjoyed Ultraman, Astroboy, Kimba (thanks for reminding me of that), Marine Boy and Speed Racer. There was also another guy with a "7" on his chest. And, of course, Kometto-san or Cosmic Baton Girl.
