Creative days

genesis records that on the fifth creative day, the waters of the earth would teem with living creatures, and every winged bird would fill the sky.

at the beginning of the sixth creataive day, all the creatures that move along the ground were created.

keeping these texts in mind, i'd like to share with you some of my observations about this wonderful earth that have convinced me that the creative days of genesis were far longer than the 7,000 year long periods we were taught as jehovah's witnesses.

This is great!

Somehow I still believe in Jehovah and in Creation in Genesis. I think the story of Creation in Genesis has suffered from being retold and re-interpreted countless times before it went to writing in ancient times. And then it went through rwwriting and tampering before it became canonized Hebrew scripture. Perhaps the skeleton of truth is there but the real details are missing.

I really wish Jehovah, Jesus, ANYBODY up there would talk to us. It's been 2,000 years since Jesus. I don't believe it was 400 years since the last Hebrew prophet and Jesus Christ. I'm starting to wonder if there is anyone upstairs listening, much less WANTING TO TELL US ANYTHING. The world is in such a mess. Just letting us know in no uncertain terms that Jehovah is up there will make a fundamental change on Mankind due to its awareness that it is not alone in the universe.

I enjoyed your comment. I remember how in the days of my blindness how those of Christendom or apostates where applied the Scripture of those who go to listen to them to "have their ears tickled". I honestly see to whom this really applies to - to the JWs themselves! You go to JW meetings not to learn anything but to get your daily fix of spiritual narcotic which makes you live in a fantasy land with fantasy people who treat you with fantasy love. And your fantasy world does you and those around you more harm than good.

Happy man, I'm sure you had good points to make but I kept losing you on where your comments began and ended and where the WTS comments began and ended. You really should include clues on which words are in your voice and what words are the WTS's voice.

I just couldn't understand what you were trying to say here. And I really wanted to.

Wow! You hit on important points too, Ignat! Especially regarding the JW David and the modern assignment of Stephen.

I'm amazing myself at what should be mentioned and isn't, and what is mentioned over-stressed and shouldn't be, in WTS literature.

This is one great WT Study with comments.

I'm sure that invitation sender and others will get a "nice" shephearding call, read something in a Watchtower Study, or hear a Local Needs part aimed at him so he will not make such socializing again and cause the faithful enough fear, uncertainty, and doubt to accept such invitation again. You must maintain mind control and thought imprisonment at all times!

But I'll bet you ANYTHING that the majority in that congo WT study as they went through another boring lession WISHED they had gone camping that Labor Day weekend - or did anything anywhere!

I'm amazed too. But I'm grateful that Blondie has both the stomach and the balance to do so. This is one Watchtower study where I really enjoy real research and comments from the audience instead of the same mindless repetition, repetition, repetition.

The WTS is true about one thing: That iron does sharpen iron. Thanks friends!

Plus I'm grateful to enjoy a holiday weekend with friends and family without guilt of missing field service and meetings. And having to explain myself at the next meeting.

What first gave you doubts ?

we all know the big problems with the wts, but what was the first thing that made you realise there were problems with the organisation ?

with me it was realitivly small stuff like an 8 year old getting baptised and a comment my best mates made about another of our friends asking if we should be hanging round with her as she might be bad assciation (she had just been reproved, but they had been mates 20 years).. .

how ever the first time i ever thought something was really wrong was when i was about 11 and my grand farther died, and mu mum wouldn't go to the funeral, i remeber thinking that surely it was better to say good bye properly than worry about if the service was in a church.. .

In 1995 when the WTS decided that the generation of 1914 was something fluid rather than something exact. They went from people who are aware of what's happening in 1914, to children who are aware, to infants born. Then all bets are off!

That's when I knew something was wrong. God's self proclaimed appointed channel DOESN'T KNOW!

on getting back from the dallas apostafest i was able to see the new release from saturday's convention program that my mother attended.

it's a 32 page brochure entitled, "keep on the watch!

" with the subtitle, "for what?

The Termination of the WTS

how would you deal with this void in your life?

A couple of days ago I was reading, and I can't remember where it was, but it was saying tht the fastest growing religion right now is the Jehovah's Witnesses.

I think the only people who make this claim are the writers at the WTS. They love to play with numbers. What they don't say is probably what's interesting.

Like the number of:

Unwed sisters getting pregnant, having their babies, and raising them up in the kingdom hall.
Growth in the congregation due to childbirth - big payoffs from a gradual hushing of the no-marriage and no-children-in-marriage policy of many years ago. Finally one long term reversal of WTS policy that is paying dividends
Broken and disfunctional families who, in their dispair, recieve a couple of nice smiling JW ladies who knock on your door who want to be your friend. So you let them be your friend, go to their meetings, tow all your kids with you, and they get counted in the meeting attendence figures.

Beautiful Artwork to Look at!

we were discussing this on a previous post!

i just had a chance to look at the "april 8, 2004" awake, with several articles on moses>.

again, i must say, speaking as an artist & an art teacher at the college level, "this pictures/drawings are of excellent quality".

That's unfortunate for you. Witnesses have to "sell" pretty pictures because the articles lack any depth. Same principle as Playboy if you think about it.

I remember when the cover of the Watcthower never changed. Just the grand two color picture of the Watchtower and then a frame in the center of it with a partial list of articles. The Awake was just a cover with a partial list of articles. Only VERY special articles had full artwork on the cover.

Then someone in the WTS who probably graduated from high school came up with the idea of having nicer looking covers for the magazines. Even (gasp!) using more than two colors and employing graphics. You can see how the covers of the magazines, and in the inside, got more attractive and stylish. After all, now that the magazines are offered with the donation arrangement, you have to guilt-trip people to giving something because of the high quality artwork.

All I have to say to that is this:

It is to no avail that its builders have worked hard on it.
Unless Jehovah himself guards the city,
It is to no avail that the guard has kept awake.
