  i knew some parents who really beat the hell out of their kids.

  anyone else remember this?

  seems like when i was a kid, you could'nt go to a meeting without hearing screams of pain from either the b room or the bathrooms.

  avishai!!!-Be assured, please, that I did NOT take your response that way at all! This was truly a WEIRD experience, not as painful as another, compounding the many other bizarre and fatal happenings around my family, but I hold no mourning in my heart for him. Oddly, it never crosses my mind unless such a subject as this one comes up. The cluster of mysterious deaths in and around my family is worthy of documentation! I deeply appreciate your concern for me regarding your response though-just shows how we have emerged from this nightmare as better and kinder humans. Thank you!

  how can "active" jws such as mj's mom, firpo carr and the william's sister who attended mjs support party, openly support him (because he is an exjw) without getting reproved or disfellowshipped by the organization?

  i know that we don't see what goes on behind the scenes, perhaps the do get a "talking to" by the elders, but it seems lately that certain active jws are more bold about associating openly with exjws.. has anyone ever read anything about mjs mom's justification of her on-going relationship with mj?

  i realize that situations like this (jws associating with exjws) go on all the time in the organization; it is nothing new.

  Do other religions use the name Jehovah?

  when people hear the name jehovah, they automatically think jehovah witnesses.

  i know that in old catholic bibles, the word jehovah might be found or jahweh.

  is it the jw's who came out with that name first or did other religions use it before the jw's?

  According to my Mom when I have shown her IN PRINT, that other religions (INCLUDING some darker, Chaotic-Magic incantations!! oooooooo!!!!) are "Praising" J...; "Those people are MIS-using Jehovah's name!" BWAHAHAHAHAHA! How outrageous is that one???!!! Please be assured that HIS name is reserved esclusively for HIS people! (Oh-and of course the awesome band "Jehovah's WAITRESSES!")

  avishai -He got worse than that-he was murdered. No, I didn't do it. He was actually disfellowshipped then (what a SLAP in the FACE that one was-no pun intended!) and trying to make ammends.

  Mine continued untill my late teens-hit ANYWHERE (face, neck, back, breasts, legs, buttocks, etc...) that the back of my father's hand, thick leather belt, hair brushes, shoes, horses bridles, and even the heavy ornate antique wooden door-moulding (he ripped off the doorway) could strike. When I became engaged at 18, my father (an elder) rushed out of my house to meet my fiance in the street, with a sucker punch (by an ex-marine mind you to a 17 y/o newly baptized BOY!) to his jaw, breaking it. How's that for memories? God help me if I didn't jump up, in a friendly mood, from bed the FIRST time the alarm went off! My brothers still shudder at the memory of the sounds of agony from upstairs-made them into choir-boys! Now wouldn't that make ANY kid LOVE and OBEY Jehovah?!? PTOOEY!

  it is reported that in sri lanka a kingdom hall and a pentecostal meeting place were attacked by hindus 4 days after a monk who opposed religious conversions was cremated.

  an effort is underway to pass a law that will punish people who use "inducements" for conversions.

  the article doesn't state what may comprise these "inducements.

  Seems to me I remember the propaganda was that "only the kingdom hall was left standing" after various vanadalism, attacks, earthquakes, and natural disasters of the world, and of course jw's were always spared because they were where they were "supposed to be!" Hmmm.... What?; was "J" on sabbatical for this?

  Non Jw and Jw can the relationship last?

  i have recentley fallen for a very nice female.

  she's in her early twenties and i am 31, age we dont have a problem with and to be honest and soppy we truly love each other, her family have disowned her because of what she believes, my family have their doubts but again thats not a problem, i value my familys opinions who have already voiced their doubts, but i would like to make this work, albeit for her beliefs.. i feel she has been shown this way, firstly by her best friend who was born into it and has recentley been disfellowshipped for falling for a non jw, and also by things which have happened to her in her short life.

  i knew after the first month that she was a jw, but she kept telling not to worry, as it wouldnt affect our future.

  Here's the "Witch's Brew" remedy provided by my chiroprator THIRTY YEARS AGO! I still use it today! 8 oz water, juice of half a lemon, 1/4 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda-chug it fast while it foams-go to bed and sweat! Sure hope you feel better soon. This is the FIRST year I have succeeded (so far) in avoiding it, despite my kids having it (I have been mega-dosing round the clock with vitamin C and Echinacea). It took years of builiding my immune system up to avoid systemic strep twice a year, bronchitis, and the flu. What a horrid little sick kid back in the day I was!
