WT Website Puts Up Articles On Molestation!

the listings below are a new offering from the watchtower website.

it seems the brothers have developed a real concern for putting up every article ever written about child abuse.

i appreciate this greatly as it helps the public to see the great deficiency of watchtower policy.

In short, the point of such articles is to provide plausible deniability. They can go into court with their heads held high and say "Look, we never told (Mrs. TroubleParent) that she had to hide her child's abuse from the authorities, and could only take it to the elder body, just because the accused is an elder. Never says that ANYWHERE in out literature."

And they'd be technically correct. THAT's the point of 'plausible deniability'.

Does anyone, reading these articles, get the feeling the watchtower is even making a serious attempt at routing out the problem? Let alone tearing at it with the furvor they show when routing out 'independent thinking'.

Pathofthorns, do you really not have a problem with #3, or #4?

You don't think the congregation needs to be warned their is a child molestor in their midst? You don't think that having a counsellor agree to WTBTS teachings before being allowed to counsel someone is a bit strange? Especially considering what those teachings are regarding abuse cases?

And, especially, their lack of examples. It's classic dub-ble speak that they've used for ages now. Say that something is okay if a christian's conscience allows it, but then provide a half dozen examples of the proper way to handle the problem, but neglect showing an example that is okay only if someone's conscience allows it.

It's like saying...."Yeah, if you are weak, that behavior is technically okay. But, a GOOD, god-fearing, christian would do it this way instead". (Yes, I'm aware they are not actually coming out and saying that - but, that's the point)

Really? Fredhall, you serious? You think it actually sad that 'false religion' is losing membership? Amazing - learn something new every day.

it's quickly written and has horrible punctuation and grammar, but people are whining at my one line sarcastic posts so.. you brought it on yourselves!.

it had been decided for months now.

i, a worthless sinner who could only beg for jesuss forgiveness, was finally going to do the right thing.

Ahh...yes, SYN, but the 'issues' sisters have with cold water is less socially objectionable than the issues it would resolve for the poor, sex-starved brothers.

(I mean, really, if you followed biblical counsel as dicated by the society, you had YEARS of unreleased sexual frustration...walking in line near attractive sisters you're getting baptised in part to have access to, who are in swimsuits and either wet or about to get really wet. Cold water would be nice....)

Circuit Assembly Bklyn NY -Saturday 4/6/02

my sister went to the circuit assembly this past weekend here in bklyn ny.. they had a young sister on the platform helping to promote pioneering.the interesting point about this is that this young sister is attending college full time and actually said this in front of the audience.she brought out that she is going to college full-time and that since she "has only one more year left, she will wait to pioneer when she is in her last year of college because maybe then it probably won't be so hard.

" these were her exact words.. i find this to be very interesting.

those of us who have done parts or experiences or talks for circuit assemblies know that each talk and each part is scrutinized in practice sessions prior to the assembly in front of the circuit overseers.

With respect, I think you'll find that if that's all you know, you will find yourself flunking out of any modern college.

They're pretty certain that Canada is near Spain and that Columbus was a Soviet Cosmonaut
I challenge you to find ONE college graduate ANYWHERE in this country that could even be convinced of either of those things.

Or maybe they emerge from "college" with a Master's degree in "Hotel Services."
Find me a college offering Master's degrees in 'Hotel Services'. Sorry, there aren't any...

Thanks, but I've heard just enough people belittling college education while I was in the borg.

Since you both are blasting the current college education system, I'm assuming you are both currently enrolled in courses?

No?

Didn't think so. It's still hard, and as someone working full time while trying to get a degree (full time courses), I'd appreciate you not talking out of your asses on this topic.

i visited some relatives in my extended family and found exactly.

the same situation as elsewhere in witness congregations.. the next generation of witnesses isn't there.. a friend of mine, who still goes to some meetings, made the.

same observation independently.
