The Watchtower's 'Lost Generation'

I visited some relatives in my extended family and found exactly
the same situation as elsewhere in Witness congregations.

The next generation of Witnesses isn't there.

A friend of mine, who still goes to some meetings, made the
same observation independently. Almost every kid, 'raised in
the truth' in his extended family is df'd, or faded away.
Leading a double life is now the rule, and theocratic purity
    the exception.

Witness families are encountering ruin - with pregnancy out of
wedlock, drug use, - and mental illness. Try disciplining a
kid 'raised in the truth' who eats up Prozac/Ambien/Paxil
and threatens suicide. Circuit Overseers are seeing Witness
divorce as an opportunity to make new disciples thru bringing
in the new husband/wife after the df'ing has been taken care of.

The Watchtower is finished with this generation.
The Governing Body is effectively 'gelded'. They can't stop
the internet - whose free porn is ten times more damaging
to their cult, than any 'apostate' site.
All the lawsuits and bad press are just icing on the cake.

And nobody bothers to challenge the phrase "downsizing",
as applied to the organization. Heck, they're being let down
    easy.

Yes, Satan has been very busy.

Unfortunately, many Witness parents are only dedicating 1 hour (if that) to their family studies, while Satan and his Demons are dedicating 24 hours a day to bringing them down.

Ahh, Meta, you are being optimistic. Problem is that many of those falling away will feel all guilty and shit, see that their parents are still in the org, and go back. 'Returning to their own vomit', indeed!

(Incidently, Mav, I noticed you stopped posting to that other thread - what's the matter, can't actually defend watchtower policy? Didn't think so...)

I'm editing this message since you read my mind and posted the link to the thread you refer to.

I don't know what you're talking about. I made a post to truthseeker. I didn't see any questions directed at me so I had nothing else to add.

If satan is o busy, jehovah must be slacking off. Satan 24 hours a day, jehovah 1 hour a day. On the other hand if only one hour a day of wt studies can't be blamed on jehovah, how can 24 hour a day influence be blamed on satan?

At any rate, it looks like satan is moving toward winning the bet on whether enough people would serve jehovah out of love. The love of jehovah's witlesses is cooling rapidly.

Hmmmm...fine...I'll ask directly, and narrow down to a simple question....(since I'm curious)...

How do you defend the org flip-flopping on doctrinal issues? For example, in 1967 the org stated that it was a 'law of god almighty' that christians abstain from organ transplants. Yet, by 1980, it was not only NOT such a law, but open to a christians conscience.

Simple, clear contradiction. How can the org, inspired by god in 1967 to ban transplants, then be inspired by the same god (who never changes) in 1980 to allow them?

Xander: You may not question the Society. You simply aren't allowed to. Anyone who questions the Society's righteous, holy actions must be the AntiChrist. The Governing Body is always right, except they are right in different ways at different times.

It really is such an amazingly beautiful series of interlocking systems that comprise what a human is. It's too bad we're working backwards from the object code, everything would be simpler with the source and a comment or three thrown in.

syn, kidding aside, I'm asking a question here of MavMan. He claims to believe the org, I want to know what the loyal follower thinks of these discrepencies?

Met, I have noticed that the next genertaion of ministerial servants, elders, and possibly even pioneers may not be there. It seems that fewer and fewer brothers (at least in my area anyway) are reaching out for privilages. In my previous congregation, we went years without any high school grads taking up the pioneer work, and that includes for the most part auxilliary pioneering too.

And yes, I also have noted that many young ones formerly regular at meetings now attend infrequently, and in all likelihood many do lead double lives.
