Last night I had the weirdist dream...I had a dream that I was going to be euthinized. In my dream I was diagnosised with a brain tumor and somehow my mom had got me to sign a paper that I would agree to get the procedure. But they were not 100% sure I would die if I did not have it. I did not want the procedure, but I had signed this paper or someone had signed it. Then I went to work and I knew my time of death would be 10:50pm. I told my boss and she cried with me and tried to help me stop the procedure. I got taken to this warehouse and they started to stick these tubes in me. I was trying to pull them out and I woke up thrashing. I have scratches on my arm where I was trying to pull the tubes out in my sleep. It is still haunting me today....

Therapy suggestions.......
by flower inok as those of you who know me know i'm a little wacky since my exit from the borg.
i've decided that its a little more than can be solved with just this board so i'm calling in the pros.
hopefully they can just do some type of operation and remove this borg chip that is still implanted in my brain.

I have been through therapy before. I tried to think of everything I would say at the first session, but I realized, if I try to control therapy too, I will never heal. Let go and let it happen. Therapy was a miracle for me. One of the BEST decisions of my life. Good luck

Kind of Depressed, Looking for Someone to Talk to
by Reborn2002 insome of you on this board know me, or at least part of my story, very likely most of you do not.. i am a 21 yr old male from chicago who finally mustered the courage to da myself roughly 6 months ago.
being a 3rd-generation jw, my grandfather was an elder 45 years, so this developed a reputation and precedence for me that i would one day be a co.. or go to bethel.
such high expectations, which i am happy i never fulfilled.

Hey Reborn...
I have never been exactly in your shoes. But I spent a very crucial time of my life in the organization. During that time I mainly had friends only in the org. It was very hard when I got out to make friends and to break away from all the teachings and such. My family was no longer in when I left, so I do not know what it is like and I can only imagine the pain and frustration that goes along with that. My mom currently now has a limited relationship with me because of her mental illness and her abusive boyfriend. My dad has created a new family, so I do know what it is like to be with out family support. Feel free to email me. I know you are in chicago and I am just in indiana. It is a tough time, but things get better, they really do.....

Religiously inclined are Mentally Ill
by gravedancer ini raised this briefly in chat earlier today and i expect a similar response to this thread.. my opinion is that if you are religious/spiritual then you are mentally ill.

Actually grave it is said that having an imaginary friend in kids is a sign of intelligence. In adults it is said to be them talking to them selves. It is only a hallucination when they see the imaginary friend. I agree with you that extremists may be on the verge of being mental ill, but those who are just seeking inner peace by getting connected with their inner spirit...that makes them mentally ill. Being spiritual does not mean you base your ideas on an ancient book, I do not, and many do not. I do not hear voices in my head. So maybe your questions are valid for some, but not for all....

Ok grave, I see your point, but when I feel inner peace after meditating, to me that is proof I have gotten into connection with something spiritual, whether that is somethng inside me our outside me, it does not matter. I do have an analogy for you, just to think about...
Do you have garbage pick up? I do. I take my garbage out at night and when I wake up the next morning it is gone. I do not see my garbage man, but I believe he exists. It is about faith, maybe you do not want to or need to have faith and that is ok. But just because people do does not make them mentally ill. Plus nothing in the DSM -IV supports your belief that spiritual people are mentally ill. IF a person realizes God is a spirit and other things, there are no delusions or hallucinations....Sorry in the realm of psychology your theory does not hold true....

Effectiveness of Psychotherapy
by larc inon a previous thread, the question of the effectiveness of psychanalysis came up.
since then, i have done some research.. a recent article* summarized the results of three literature surveys, and the author came up with the following conclusions:.
1. for major affective disorders, and major psychoses, psychpharmacological treatment works best.. 2. for symptomatic anxiety based disorders, such as phopias, generalized anxiety disorders, panic disorder, obsessive complulsive disorder, and post - traumatic stress disorder, cognitive and behavioral treatments work best.. 3. for personality disorders and complex comorbid disorders with an underlying personality disorder, long term relationship therapies work best.
