Dental X-Rays
by Beans inevery time i go to the dentist they insist on taking x-rays, i see no need.
if you go every six months and get x-rays are you getting overexposure to the effects?
are x-rays a good cash grab for the dentist?.

Nonsense! The dose of radiation is far less than we encounter in our everyday activities. As for milking dental insurance, the cost of a single x-ray at most dental offices barely covers the material and labor that goes into it.
Go digital, save a tooth.

Many dentists have converted to digital x-rays, which are far lower in radiation exposure than normal "film" type. You might seek out a dentist who offers digital instead.
Often times, problems can be detected on x-rays which are not visible, even with a good pair of "loops" or noticed with a probe. Interproximal decay is often present before the patient feels discomfort or is visible to the eye. The ADA suggests at least four bitewings twice per year.
Other technology, such as laser cavity detection, can also be used without the exposure to x-rays. Ask your dentist if he/she is familiar with this type of equipment.
Of course, technology - and training to use it - is expensive. If your dentist offers these kinds of advances, don't complain about fees. Not only is the equipment pricey, but keeping up with continuing education and learning about modern techniques of disease prevention and detection costs big bucks.

I have taken forms of this test many times. Each time, it came out to be "exactly what we're looking for" from the employer's prospective. Once you get the hang of these things, you can skew them however you want. Much of it depends on the mood you're in when you take them, who is administering the test, and what you think "they" want.
I always got the job I wanted.

Who has despised the day of small things?
by Know_You inas the apostates increasingly gather courage, poking their vile heads out of their filthy spider-holes, slavering like the mad creatures that they are, as they shake their puny fists at the lord of all creation, jehovah's people may may become downhearted, even despondent.
many, we hear, are slowing down or even becoming inactive.
others have been so bold as to have risen up to question the slave as it faithfully dispenses food in due season.

I wonder what would happen if someone couldn't recognise parody if it slapped them round the chops, and couldn't be bothered reading a thread before they post on it??
For the answer to that question, read the preceeding few pages.

Know_You: my Master....
Don't you know it's not funny to inflict satire on people (AAF, Richie, Puter, etc) who have absolutely no sense of humor?
It always strikes my funny bone (which I have evidently not had removed) when people respond to a post without reading all of the thread.
One more time, with feeling:
This is satire!
And a damned good one at that!

Regards HS:
An interesting read on the degredation of musical form is the book Digital Mantras:The Language of Abstract and Virtual Worlds, by Steven R. Holtzman. Although the book gets a bit preachy at times, the author suggests that after composers made a concerted effort to distance themselves from the structure and form of earlier works (such as using the "circle of fifths" for harmonics), music became rather chaotic.
My own taste tends to agree, as I find much of the modern classical compositions from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century to be discordant and annoying.
A HUGE percentage of popular music played on the top 40 today consists of re-mixes or covers of earlier, classic R & B hits. Not much new being produced at all.
I also agree with GT, in that with the advent of technology and the internet (thus your subject line ties in nicely), niche music is more and more accessible to those who appreciate it.
Good taste and good music will never die out completely. Will there ever come a time when Bach, Mozart, Chopin, or Beethoven will not be heard?
Wasa...not wanting to think about THAT

Rem:
Is there any such thing as 6.1 surround sound?
Yes, according to articles I've read when I did a google search. The sixth channel is the rear speaker. Some of the newer movies have 6.1 sound (I think Disney's re-release of Fantasia, for example, but I'm not sure.)
When I bought my receiver, the 6 channel was a selling point. Now that I have a spare speaker, I'd like to use it, since the output jacks are there.
Anyone??
