Hey moe,
Enjoy your vacation and your suntan!

this is a bit lengthy, but is a very big issue with me, and that is the issue of women's rights.
i do agree with women allowing their husbands to make a final decision, being on how women think with their hearts and men think with their heads, making choices often times more logical ones.
but, the husband according to god is supposed to love his wife as his own flesh.

Howdy Shaneliza,
Nice to meet you.
You give the impression that you believe women are empty-headed pieces of fluff who couldn't make a sane decision if their lives depended on it, and that men are our saviors, ready to shelter us from the tough calls in life. GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!
Naaaaaa, don't be too rough on Moe. Every woman should know by now that men aren't our saviors - we have other ways to entertain ourselves.
Moe started a thread about something else and it just backfired a little. We've all done that trick before! Dave said it best up above (on page 2 I believe). Maybe go back and read it again? Made me sit back and chuckle.
You young people just get bent waaaaay out of shape too fast.

the question, "why are you here?
" is simple enough, and your answer may be straightforward.
however, when i asked that of myself, i find that my answer is pretty complicated.
Hey Troubled,
Lord, I have no idea. How much time will the "old age and sorriness" excuse buy me?
Of course, like any organization, the WTBTS only publishes the good experiences, and not the bad. I need to do as much research as possible, both pro and con.
Remember some of the proofs we offered to our bible studies that the Bible was unbiased and really told the Truth? One of those is that it showed the people in events like they really happened. Where people sinned, were punished, and then forgiven (or not.) But it showed humility and honesty.
I personally don't quite believe that the Bible is *exact* anymore - but if you take the good/bad argument and apply it to the WTBTS - they fail.
Sorry I was confused, I did read your account with interest. Well thought out with good points. I hope you stick around? I remember other posts by you....hope you're doing well? Childhood can be a bummer, eh?

happy monday!.
had no price tag.
much to her embarrassment the cashier got on the intercom and boomed out for the entire store to hear: "price check on lane thirteen, tampax, supersize.
Howdy Caole,
Nice to see your handsome face too! Ol' Seven's gettin' a bit fiesty with her long threads, ain't she? It's the blond hair.
I went through the first 8 pages, collecting the best - and found this one:............
As a congregation sat listening to the preacher give his sermon, Satan suddenly appeared in all his evilness. The preacher and the congregation all bolted for the door screaming in fear, all except for one elderly gentleman who stayed where he was, looking frankly rather bored.
Satan of course was rather dismayed at the mans lack of fear and said to him "I am Satan! Beezelbub! Lord of Darkness! King of evil! Do you not fear me?!
The old man looked at him and said...."Why should I be? I've been married to your sister for 50 years"
...........................
Don't be a stranger 'round here!

i thought it would be interesting for people to just post a few things about themselves so we can get to know each other just a bit.. try posting 10 facts about your life.. joel.
1. i was born and raised in south georgia.. 2. my favorite subject in school was math.. 3. i was in the fulltime service (bethel and pioneer) for 4 years.. 4. my favorite color is blue.. 5. mitch and i have been together over 12 years.. 6. we live in a suburb of atlanta georgia.. 7. we love to eat out and have friends over for dinner and board games.. 8. the only sport i was ever any good at is tennis.. 9. my favorite tv show of all time is the simpsons.. 10. we are both naturists and wish we could lay on the beach naked every day.
Hey outnFree,
5. I am right-handed with one left-handed daughter. [-handedness being a big thing on this thread for some reason.)
You'd have to be left-handed to understand. It's a big thing with us. Sort of like an unspoken persecution complex. For years, I sewed a lot - which meant cutting fabric a lot. My left thumb would have big red marks on it afterwards and throb with pain. I thought it was normal, just part of sewing.
I finally (frivously) invested in a left-handed pair of sissors (sp?) - and was amazed - no pain! Then, and only then, did I realize that the world was really stacked against left-handed people. And I felt righteously persecuted because there's not enough of us for the buying market - so we suffer injustice at the hands of the right-handers.
Now you understand.

i post the following at the request of barbara anderson.. .
as a result of the newspaper report calling attention to my actions i feel compelled to provide further information that has come to light and deserves full exposure.. the society is very much aware of my intentions, because of a private e-mail i innocently wrote someone was forwarded to the society without my permission.
you can read it in its entirety, below.
Hello BlueSaphire,
People like my sister and my in-laws wont even watch the Dateline show or read Time or Newsweek if it's negative toward their beloved GB. So how is this going to affect the majority of the R&F?If jw's don't watch the show, it probably won't affect them immediately - the same thing if jw's watch, and then do the famous "click off" of mental reasoning Wait on Jehovah.
However, many people are interested in child abuse - they have to work with the problem. Parents, teachers, medical professionals, police, government workers, mental health professionals, coaches, religious teachers, etc.
Some people are curious about the secretive JW group also, they may work, go to school, live near one. Besides, there's only a select group of people who even watch news shows....
I think those are the people who will impact the average jw who won't watch that show. Example: JW placing WT/Awake! and recipiant asks: "Did you watch that show? No? Why not? You mean you won't watch a news show that definitely impacts the group you spend your life with? You think their ALL lying? You really think that Satan is behind that show? Don't you think Satan is behind child molesters? Well, the child molesters are IN your church, and you don't want to know so you can protect your children?
Imho, I think there will be more of a backlash effect on jw's than an immediate. I don't think my family will watch either. They wouldn't read the articles on child molestation in Paducah Sun - put there by apostates. My elder b-i-l told us this because all apostates are liars and they can get anybody to lie about jw's - because jw's are always persecuted for being the only ones to have The Truth.
Round n' round.

i was speaking to a friend who is a j.w and asked her a couple of questions, the first one was that if god created everything perfect why did he give a bird wings when it is to heavy to fly ie:the ostrich,my second was that when the great flood receaded and all life was destroyed what did the lions, tigers and all the other meat eating animals do for food, the answer she gave me was that they ate plants and things?was she winding me up?im still waiting for the ostrich answer.
Meat eater animals probably could survive on vegetables for an extended time period - as mentioned during war times.
However, that doesn't explain why lions, sharks, bears, wolves, etc. were created with shredding-style (canine) teeth in the first place if they were created and lived within a perfect Paradise and didn't hunt.
Why weren't they created with teeth like cows, etc? Cows teeth "munch" on food - smashing it. Wolves etc., teeth are used for tearing, ripping. Not very Paradise-like, is it? There is no evidence in history that wolves, cats, bears, etc., ever had any other type of teeth than they have now.
H20, perhaps that would be a question you could ask your jw friend?

the approach of ex-jehovah's witnesses towards those still witnesses has been debated since the problem first occurred.
personally i joined the ranks of ex-witnesses in 1988 and found myself more or less thrown into the fray appearing in media like newspapers, radio and tv.
one of the first things i noticed was the interest bestowed upon me from competing churches, particularly from the pentecostalism camp.
Howdy Norm,
I agree with your words fully - well spoken. There are a few I don't post with - not worth the hassle & irritation. Is that intolerance or common sense? I prefer to believe it's common sense - but I could be wrong. As you said, injustice should never be tolerated - makes us hypocrites.
HS mentioned jw's in "real life." Usually I try not to pass up a chance to say hello - just so that I can prove to them & myself that I'm not shunned nor afraid of them. However, a sister wanted me to come out to her car yesterday while I was working. I didn't - just didn't feel like hassle'n with her - whether in politeness or not.
Was I intolerant? Maybe.....but being at work, I could get away with it. Btw, she cornered my husband and proceeded to tell him that she didn't like his haircut, definitely didn't like his beard, and that it made him look old. I think she was trying to kid with him - but she lacks that quality. He wasn't impressed & I'm glad I stayed away.
I probably wouldn't have shown much tolerance if she said I looked old. I *know* that already - and she's my age, for Pete's sake.
However, giving room for the most possible posters, including jw's, would also be showing tolerance. And I still think striving for that is *a good thing.*(tm Martha Stewart). Do y'll get her show over there? Would you know such a thing?
We disagree with some of her gardening suggestions down South. Quite intolerant of Yankees down this way.

yesterday i had a great time with mr and mrs ozziepost, prisca and dr and mrs loss.
we met at drloss's home and it was really like we had known each other for years.
strangest part was that we all seemed to know the same people (either in or out of the borg).
I think it's really neat that y'all can visit this way. *sigh* - maybe someday we'll all be able to post pictures, real names - and have open get-togethers.......and tell our families about it without fear of shunning.
Someday.....
