right at the finish line - seems too coincidental to be anything other than a purposeful act.

to all jehovah's witnesses, here is an easy question you can answer... when did jesus begin ruling as king?.
watch tower answers:.
following his resurrection, jesus ascended to heaven and waited at gods right hand until 1914 to begin ruling as king.

There's the reason why I refrain to use facebook. Right there. As an active JW who is still undecided on what to do, but with family in, it would be the ultimate nightmare for me if someone against my own decision would link me to the AAWA - especially if I wouldn't be aware of it. This would be utterly nightmarish and potentially life-endangering, if you can imagine all the potential devastation it can cause. Please be VERY CAREFUL and don't take that risk lightly.

this is rather wonderful............... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=s8osse7w9fs.
Thank you, Cantleave.
I'm not versed in english literature (not my native language), but I love David Gilmour and his voice - and Pink Floyd for that matter.

SARWA - Society for Awareness and Recovery from Watchtower Abuse
My two cents as far as name goes. Less "intimidating radicalism" (anti; activist) and a little more focus on actually helping out those who wish to find some help.

Edit: I think the name is a missed opportunity. It automatically alienates people who disagree on the watchtower's doctrine and practice, but who do not wish to see it "destroyed" and "burned", rather reformed. It fuels the Watchtower's discourse on the "enemies" of "Jehovah's people", the hated "apostates" that they so eagerly teach the Witnesses to hate and avoid like the plague. You think you're cornering the Watchtower, but in fact what you're doing with this name is cornering yourselves. Not a great choice IMHO.
In any case, there are some people in the advisory board whose efforts I came to respect over the time I've been active on this forum, so I'll follow it with interest.

memorial is this tuesday.
while explaining the significance of consuming the booze and bread it is quite likely the speaker is going to make a passing remark about how jesus made sure that judas would not be present to partake.. of course he won't explain his reason for saying that.
but here is some food for thought while you're stuck sitting there listening to it:.
Good points, Bobcat and Pterist!

apparently (i'm taking others' word for it) the watchtower publications are asserting that "apostates," i.e., those who have chosen to no longer be jehovah's witnesses, are "mentally diseased.
" there are some important issues with this assertion.. first, they are not mental health professionals and in no position to diagnose mental illness.
do they believe we all have the same "mental disease," or are there different diagnoses for different people who come to their senses?.
I find the NASB translation to be quite suitable to the very idea conveyed: "morbid interest in controversial questions". Or "obsessed about controversial questions". Some people - including some who are former JW's - fit these discriptions entirely. They're not 'mentally diseased' in the pathological sense. They're perfectly 'normal' people. But some of them aquired an unhealthy obsession about debating endlessly over controversial questions instead of sometimes in the interest of peace just dropping the question. They want to prove in every detail that their former beliefs are wrong and don't know when to stop with it.
