  Perhaps the judge was concerned about the substance of the policy?

  Perhaps you didn't want to raise the Judge's comments.

  And yes this is the whole point of the commission's work, to try and ensure that all organisations have robust, workable,transparent and realistic policies for Child Safeguarding.

  And you are right I have a bias, having been a victim of JWs dishonest and inhumane teachings.
  

  I also recognise good policy and procedure documents having been a Quality Assurance manager for a number of years.

  I currently work in a Catholic Institution (I am atheist) and have participated in their education programs and am subject to their continuously revised policies on the subject under discussion; Child Safegaurding.

  I can see the difference.

  And if you listened you would have heard the Judge say " yes well that's all well and good that you are reporting while the commission is sitting but we need to know what will happen in 5 years when we are not around "

  To my mind he did not sound convinced.
  

  Just sayin, perhaps you should review the vision again and try to remove the JW filter from your glasses.

  What do you think the Australian Government will do?

  i am not wanting to start a fight.

  i just want to hear what people think.

  honestly and realistically, what do you think the australian government will do, with watchtower, when they receive the full arc report?.

  Firstly this is an inquiry into Institutional Responses to child abuse, it covered many institutions; some secular, some sporting bodies, some schools and of course a number of religions, one of which was JWs. It has the power to report to law enforcement authorities and has already done so in the matter of about 500 allegations gleaned from JW files submitted to the commission. They have also reported JWs in NSW for "concealment" matters. Opening Poster should do some research on his own. All this is available by reading the ARC's website. It is an extremely transparent process.

  The commission can/has made recommendations to governments both State and Federal regarding future unity in mandatory reporting regimes of different States and the establishment of redress schemes for the aid of victims. It has made recommendations to each organisation about how to proceed with improvements and asks for feedback for the good of all. Who has been the most stubborn and least remorseful? And most others have offered unreserved apologies! Not the JWs

  Really in this day what organisation does not have someone on the payroll who can formulate a policy on any given subject? Especially one which boasts a legal department. Just hire a consultant, it is not that hard. Hell I have done it and I am no scholar.

  None so blind as those who choose to be. I certainly hope they revisit the Watchtower before this is over.

  Benefits to Faith over Reason

  i wrote this earlier for my own benefit in order to get some thoughts straight in my head.

  it is just my own personal pondering on what i think might be the motivating force behind having a faith.

  it is not intended to attack, provoke or patronize anyone who has a belief and i hope it is not taken in that way.

  let's be honest everyone has their limits, their breaking point.

  personally i try to remain placid when provoked, but on occasion i can loose it.

  the last time i lost it was when chelsea came to watford and some chelsea supporters had some how got tickets and were sitting in the home end.

  Truly I have spent many hours awake when I should be sleeping, literally plotting peoples death.

  Then I learnt TTATT.

  Then I learnt about mindfulness meditation.

  Now I sleep well.

  Wife still reckons I am grumpy ol fart.

  I go right off when people say loose your temper instead of lose your temper. I lost mine now!... Otherwise your grammar and spelling seems OK. Maybe it's your damned auto correct or something and I hate that f****r too. How f*****g dare they tell us how to bloody spell the Queen's English. God-damn it, I have to go have a Bourbon now, I hope you're happy with what you have done. Gees I"ll give you f****n temper. You wanna hope I don't meet you in a dark alley you offspring of a *********** **** ****. F*** me, where do some people get off?

  And what damn business of yours is it if I have a temper. I'll control my temper when everyone else controls there stupid! I hope the damn dog comes in so I can kick it and its all your bloody fault; probably wont be able to sleep now.

  Weakness you reckon, If a few more of us got "weak" now an then we might clean this cesspit we live in up. I'll give you bloody weak right alongside your f****n head.

  The question was raised about the copyright dates of Aid to Bible Understanding.

  My copy is 1971 version (500,000 copies) and it says in the fly sheet that there was a 1969 edition (532,917 copies).

  Definitely no entry under "Elder".

  I too remember the green Bible, but my Bible is a 1984 brown NWT reference Bible.

  Well they were always insignificant but some could put up a half decent argument and run their NWT inside out. No more. In fact it is boring trying to play with them now. Most haven't got a clue.

  I am 58 years old so I well remember the hype and the fear I felt as a naïve impressionable teen during all of this hype and doom saying. I was frankly terrified because I knew in my heart I was not good enough; as a born in I never "felt " it. Always a doubter.

  Enter my brother, an ex-bethelite, now pioneer (married, no children, dirt poor, no assets, so sad). He was five years old in 75 but assures me that my memory is defective and we all deluded ourselves, no fault of the "Mother".

  I am not gonna argue the point at all, there are none so blind as those who choose to be and I see no point in alerting my very aged parents to the fact that I am "apostate" not just a long time fader. That would be unkind.
