Indepentant Bible Study w/o WTS!

i've been interested in studying the bible, independant of any wts publications.

but i am at a loss for where to start.

also, i have no one, really, to discuss things with, such as what i'm finding or reading.

I've been interested in studying the bible, independant of any WTS publications. But I am at a loss for where to start. Also, I have no one, really, to discuss things with, such as what I'm finding or reading. No one else so I can "Pick their brain" or we can "pick each other's brains". Is there anyone else here in the Canton Ohio, USA area who would be interested in possibly starting a group? Not to discover a new religion, or to find one that already exists, but to help sort through the weeds and the wheat of the Bible and figureing out what really is the truth and what is not. Please email me and let me know...I will make my email public so you can.

More Wondering and Self doubt

V ~ They preach "proverbs, proverbs" about women to make them feel important. Then in actions they put them down to low class participants in the WTS. It is sickening. I was dispised by the Elders in my cong because I could see them as they were and I told them what they were. I did not hold back. When I got married, they DF'd me at first. Then rejoiced at my reinstatement because now I had a "head" to control me. What they did not see coming was that, my DH does not control me, and he never stopped me from trying to think and figure things out on my own. He never told me I was to never "disrespect" a brother in the cong. in that manner, even if I was right. Well, the Elders soon realized their mistake in reinstating me. But I acted before they could, I sent in my letter. All this "I'm better than you because I have a penis" crap is for the borg....not real people. Maybe it's the penis that took the place of where they could've been given a brain. Sorry, I'm not entirely a man hater but I must admit, there are some really f**ked up ones out there and sifting through them gets tiring.

Sorry for ranting and getting off topic. Guess I felt the need to vent, yet again. And will continue to work on my self-control. (Where the hell did that come from? oh, I remember, one of those "back room" meetings I was involved in ... lol)

My first piece of advise to you is this and simply this:

IGNORE FRED HALL

Do you have the UN website addresses where all the info can be found?
Also the newpapers articles?

Browse through the UN/WTS threads here if you need any official information to use with them, and study it well before their visit, so you will be prepared for the questions they will ask.

More than likely, they are not going to want to listen about the information you have found, or how valid it is. They are going to question you about "apostate" association and reading "apostate" literature. They are going to tell you that "we" are leading you astray and that you should break from us immediately. They are not going to listen to what you have to say on the matter (from previous experiences here on the board).

Stand strong, don't let them pull you back into their blanket of lies.

I have yet to be allowed full access to the site. I can only get into very few forums. But yes, it is boring, and disgusting. I have yet to post there, though.

New Here...Am I Apostate???

im 25 years old and from the uk.

i havent attended the hall for a couple of years.

i looked into the jws online because i knew in my heart that the guilt they make you feel and the mass destruction they preach just isnt right.

i feel sorry for all jw's who get sucked in by the thinking "we will love you as long as you are good enough for jah.

adults are able to decide for themselves, whether it's a religion that they want to persue.

When my daughter was about 5 - 6 she told me that she had dedicated her life to Jehovah. She was very serious.
I asked her if that meant she wanted to get baptised right away and she answered that she did not thnk the bros would understand it if she tried to get baptised so young.
She was about 8 when she was baptised. So were two of her brothers. One waited until he was eleven.

I was thrilled during our Family Study the other night with an answer my 5 year old son gave. I asked him if he new what lying was, and instead of giving just a standard three word answer, he gave me an illustration (unprompted!!!).
It was great to see that it really was "sinking in" and he was able to fully explain and comprehend his understanding.
I was on Cloud 9!!

So sad, if only they knew just what they were doing to their children.

I went to look for more tidbits....something really to help move my brain toward studying the real truth, not the JW truth, but as I switched threads, pages stopped coming up for me. Think maybe I've been given the boot from GC but will find out later I suppose. Hopefully it's just my computer acting up again.
