Interesting. As a JW I would've thought that I should give up everything to the WTS for the Kingdom work. Hmmm... what do I think now after reading this? It's bullshit. They are just like every other money grubbing religious organization and it makes me proud to no longer be a part of it.

The plants that JW's love to hate

most people who have any sustained contact with jehovahs witnesses soon discover that this organization is rather tough on certain types of plants.

it is easy to see that small forests have been sacrificed over the decades to make the multiple millions of publications for the evangelical work or that many plants that are commonly used for personal drug use are condemned, but most people dont know about a few lonely plants growing somewhere in california that really irk the witnesses.

these plants have a very interesting story to tell.

me, i opened an assortment of colorful packages this afternoon, chocolates, chocolates and more chocolates .. two books, one on ancient egypt and the other a guide to bush tucker plants, two videos, one the moulin rouge, the other the hitchikers guide to the galaxy, a galileo pendulum lol, one of those profile pin art things and various perfumes and bathing equipments.. give?

who me .. lots of presents for the girls but they were most happy with the mobile phones.. cheers, glutonous unc, off for a swim

WE bought my grandparents simply a $50 g/c for Joe's Crab Shack, they are so hard to please. For my dad, a digital camera. For my dad and his wife, and my step siter and her dh, satelitte dishes (aren't we nice?! lol).

I recieved socks and underwear (my dear maternal grandmother always knows just what I need). And my DH bought me a digital camera and I have been shutter happy every since. But, we're off to my dad's house as soon as we can get ready. I couldn't sleep last night so spent the entire night cleaning my oven and so now I'm dragging.

Types of People we loved to hate (Love less)

there are always one or two outstandingly idiotic people in any cogregation.. there is always someone who never gets ill, needs only 3 hours sleep,.

works fulltime and pioneers and never understands why others arent doing the same .. there always the hall big mouth who says stupid things to people like .

"you look so much better now with that new haircut , you looked so old/worldly/ugly/fat whatever before".

We all have memories of the borg that we care to forget. But to move ahead with life, we all must face them and overcome them.

I think it's terrible the way that such a "loving people" treat each other and then are praised for it. I personally would've slapped someone who insisted that I had gained weight when I in fact hadn't. I would've probably kicked an elder who told me that he hoped I wouldn't be a burden on the congregation (oh wait, I have done that when an elder in my old Hall told me I was a burden on my dad when I was in fact supporting myself and no longer living under his roof ).

But I think that all our bad experiences and all our suffering has made us all appreciate the simplest things in life that most take for granted. Things such as thinking for ourselves and making our own decisions. It makes us stronger.

edited to clarify that it was my stepdad and not my dad. My dad thinks that all JW's are nutcases that should be locked up in isolated padded cells.

One of the elders, Johnny. To this day I get nauseous (sp) just thinking about his face with his oversized nose. This is the same man who beat me with a stick in the KH, he said nasty things to me, would call me up when I was home alone to call me a whore, and yet those things weren't as bad when compared to this last statement: My son was born. He was in NICU. Johnny knew that. I was devistated when I had to leave my newborn, firstborn baby in the hospital. I went to the sunday meeting the next morning with pillow in hand (boy was I sore) and as I was getting into the car afterwards so that I could spend the rest of the day with my new baby, Johnny Elder comes up to me and says, "Why didn't you bring your son to the meeting? What kind of mother are you?" Him knowing full well where my son was and why.

When I found out that this man has had contact with my children when they visit my mother's home, I told her that I would move half way across the world if I had to to keep that man away from my children. That didnt go over too well. I wouldn't say that I love him less, I despise this man and I'm not yet ready to forgive him and I don't know if I ever will be able to.

They'll let anyone be an elder it seems.
