Like the plague.
I can't stand any of them. Pathetic self-righteous hypocrites.
i think i typically don't want to be either love bombed or questioned.
i happen to see jws a lot while visiting my mom.
they don't go there with me, which works well for all concerned..
Like the plague.
I can't stand any of them. Pathetic self-righteous hypocrites.
is anyone here following what is happening with the trial in south africa.
what are your thoughts?
how are the media handling this?
He's just another pathetic male used to getting his way with women and is incapable of handling things civilly when this doesn't happen. Any man resorting to violence of any kind against a woman is beneath contempt.
His previous achievements mean nothing now that he has committed this terrible crime.
His display in the court room has nothing to do with his sorrow over the death, only its fall out messing with his career and lifestyle.
Here in Australia we have a had a spate of domestic violence perpetrated by men against their wives, girlfriends and ex partners. A man threw his fiancè out of a high rise window. Yesterday amother man was found guilty of stabbing his former partner to death. Today, another bloke doused his girlfriend in a flammable liquid and set her alight, in a Sydney street, while she was on her way to get an AVO against him.
It's sickening, horrific, unspeakably cruel and just utterly pathetic. And it's got to stop.
had the opportunity or should i say "chore" to goto the ca a couple weeks back...haven't had the chance to post this... do giving the final talk about "work," you know, "god and christ keep working and so should you..." what kinda blew my mind is the co gives the talk before him and says, "i know you are tired, tired of this system of things, but we can keep going can't we?
we know it's just around the corner.
" the brothers all clap, cause he's like an old grandpa type...the do then comes up and starts talking about how much people are slowing down, he talks about the "snares" that satan is using and the need to keep busy, he then states, "brothers, you must work hard.
@DataDog: God's energy levels are not limitless. He is still resting after putting in that tough week of building the universe. I think it was the insects that wore him out the most. All those little fiddly bodies and legs and bits and pieces. It was tough going, and there's millions of different 'kinds'. It's enough to wear out even the hardiest Creator.
On the other hand, the snakes and worms were very easy. You just gotta roll those critters up like bread dough.
if you believe "when it's your time to go, it's your time to go" then cause of death does not matter.
plane crash, school shooting, accident, war, or anything else.. if you have this mind set, then any event resulting in a human death is just fulfilling a pre-determined destiny for that human.. you also cannot pick and choose as to which event, or rather, death, is in the "when it's your time to go, it's your time to go" scheme of things or not.. nightowl.
.
Utter nonsense.
i've sort of mentioned this as a different possibility in response to other threads but i was curious if any of you athiests all think that life just evolved on this earth from single cell organisms or if you ever thought it's possible that intelligent life long ago w/ advanced science could have made humans and much of life on earth and just dumped it here or made it here.
.
i'm not making this thread to debate, i am just curious if any of you have come up with other ideas on your own as possibilities since all we have for the origin of life are just theories right now.
All life on Earth evolved from a single common ancestor.
Every single living thing on Earth is related. All living things share DNA.
No need for aliens to be involved.
However, as to the question of whether there is life elswhere in the Universe, on the balance of probabilities, there's a fair chance there is. NASA has just released data saying that every star is part of a solar system and all stars have at least one planet orbitting them. So if life evolved here, it probably has somewhere else in the Universe as well.
But because of the vastness of interstellar space, we will never know.
i've been thinking for a while about the topic mentioned in the title and came to the conclusion that the flood story from the bible provides a very good starting point for proving the bible wrong.. in the following paragraphs i'll be only presenting ideas and potentially logic errors, and possible answer.
i didn't do any serious research yet, for in order to answer various questions a good base in specific branch of science is required.. according to the bible (the internet) the volume of the ark was 137.16 m * 22.86 m * 13.716 m = 43006 cubic meters (roughly).
if we was to subtract the volume of the interior structure (elements like walls, stairs, etc.
Why didn't Noah swat those last two mosquitoes when he had the chance?
according to wt tamud, if a jw does in-vitro fertilization, carries a surrogate child, uses a surrogate, and so forth then it is "por-neia".. the bible says that mary was a virgin when implanted with the embryo of jesus christ.
under the mosaic law adultery was punishable by death.
since mary was already engaged to joseph, if she was to sleep with another man it was the same as adultery in the eyes of the law.
Mary, a bit of a party girl, gets pregnant.
Freaks out. Tells hubby-to-be, Joe, that it was god who knocked her up.
Joe, a simple and gullible fool, believes her.
And here we are today.
where in the christian greek scriptures do disciples of christ record how many hours a month they preached.. " " " " 10 hours for women and children and slack husbands with no ambition.
" " " " do they record how many back calls / return visits they made in a month.. " " " " have they set down how many bible studys they had in a month.. " " " " do they have pioneers ,special pioneers , aux.pioneers , with goals to reach each month.. " " " " do they have d.o.
, c.o., zone servants , etc.etc.. " " " " where in the christian greek scriptures is the word " organisation" applied to christianity.
By gosh, Smiddy, I think you may be on to something!!
john 13:4,5. got up from the evening meal and laid aside his outer garments.
and taking a towel, he wrapped it around his waist.. after that he put water into a basin and started to wash the feet of the disciples and to dry them off with the towel that was wrapped around him.. .
the wt "translates" himatia as outer garments but some other translations says just clothes.. if he were wearing just an underwear, why wrap a towel around the waist?
They had towels 2000 years ago?
It all smacks of homoeroticism to me. Naked guys washing others' feet; wearing towels, bathing each other in rivers.
i'm looking forward to next week.
even though, i'm enrolled this semester as an external student, (just to make it easier to go to china during the semester), i'm allowed to attend on-campus lectures and tutorials.. i've just downloaded the unit guides and everything fits in well with my planned china visit, this unit is at 200 level, so its an easier assignment load (just 3500 words in two asssignments) and both due before my planned dates to visit china.
and the exam will be at least two weeks after i get back.. oh!
Even though you're a U of S man, good luck with your studies this term, FTS!
I'm an alumnus of UNSW, myself.
